2 x Core Game Programmer (Flashpoint Campaigns)

Posted: Jan 30, 2023

This is an incredible opportunity to join one of the most exciting development projects in the commercial and professional space. Note : This role is not directly with Slitherine, but with our development partner OnTarget Simulations (OTS). OTS are seeking skilled software developers to help with the development of the Flashpoint Campaigns series, both on the commercial and professional side. Your duties will primarily revolve around writing new code, as well as modifying existing code to fix errors, adapt it to new hardware, improve its performance, or upgrade interfaces. You will also be involved in directing system testing and validation procedures, and also working with customers or departments on technical issues including software system design and maintenance.

Flashpoint Campaigns is a computer simulation of high-intensity grand tactical ground combat in the years since World War 2.  What started as a small project twenty years ago has grown into a serious tool for training and course of action generation for machine learning programs, and countless hours of entertainment for commercial gamers.  There is definitely much more to come.

  • OTS are looking for developers who share our interest in both the commercial releases and professional work we do for NATO partners and other friendly nations.  This is a contract position with remote work, and open for both full and part-time developers.
    • Location is not important, though it must be a friendly nation and you must be able to work with teams in Europe and North America.
    • Strong written and verbal English is a must.
  • Successful candidates will be familiar with tabletop and computer wargames.   A good knowledge of military history from WW2 onwards would be a considerable asset but is not necessary.  Work on previous computer game development in some capacity would be helpful but is not required.

  • The game is developed in Embarcadero Delphi and has approximately 180k lines of internally written code, augmented by 600k of third-party code.
    • Note: C++ developers often readily pick up Delphi.  C# is good as well.
    • OTS are highly interested in candidates with Lua, Python, or R skills.
    • OTS are also interested in HTML/CSS skills.

  • Full-time remuneration will be $60,000+ , though this is based on location, qualifications and experience.  Please mention any participation in computer game betas or game development when you apply.

Please submit your CV and covering letter via the form below.

By submitting your resume you are consenting to the processing of your personal data for the purpose of recruitment by Slitherine OTS and Software UK Ltd and its subsidiaries.
