Release Day Memories: An Inside Look into the Excitement
As Starship Troopers: Terran Command marks its one-year anniversary, we sat down with the development team to reminisce about the exhilarating release day and uncover some behind-the-scenes stories. The developers shared their excitement and even a few anecdotes from that memorable day.
Q: “How was the release day? I imagine you were filled with excitement. Could you share some behind-the-scenes details about that day? Do you have any interesting anecdotes to share?”
Dev Team: “Our team came together in the evening to follow the release day’s events and to track statistics. In the first hours that the game went live, our data tracking service seemed to imply that there were only a few dozen players trickling in. We wondered if perhaps this was normal - perhaps not a lot of people purchase a game on the exact hour of release? The moment of relief came when we realized we were looking at the wrong data set. The few dozens of sales turn out to be thousands.
A bigger concern was that the system was reporting several crashes in the Battle of Klendathu, the first scenario of the game. Luckily, it quickly turned out that the crash was limited only to the Turkish language. A language which - so we learned that day - has a dotless letter “i”; which our localisation code did not correctly support. While still painful, the issue affected only a very small percentage of players and a fix was quickly rolled out.
From there on the sales and reviews were looking very good and continue to be to this day. So to summarize: the release day was very exciting for our team!”

Q: “It has been a successful year, hasn't it? Could you provide us with some impressive numbers and statistics to showcase the game's achievements?”
Dev Team: “Here are a couple of big numbers achieved by all players since the release of the game:
Another notable milestone is that since the release of the scenario editor - about 3 months ago - the community has already uploaded over 250 items to the Steam Workshop. Thanks to all these creative people for doing their part!”
Anniversary Celebrations: A Special Gift for the Community
On the occasion of the first anniversary, the Starship Troopers: Terran Command development team wants to express their gratitude to the community by revealing a special gift and some exciting achievements.
Q: “On the day of the anniversary, the community is eagerly anticipating a special gift to celebrate. Could you give us a sneak peek of what to expect?”
Dev Team: “Achievements have been added in the latest update. Each campaign scenario now has two unique achievements that can be earned by the most skilled and bravest Troopers out there. In addition, there is a set of global achievements related to your performance across the game. Note that while campaign achievements are available in any version of the game, the global achievements only work for the Steam version.
Future Plans: What Lies Ahead for the game?
With one year under their belt, the Starship Troopers: Terran Command development team has ambitious plans for the future, aiming to provide fans with even more thrilling content and enhanced gameplay experiences.
Q: “What does the future hold? What exciting plans and upcoming features can players anticipate?”
Dev Team: “Now that we have wrapped up the achievements update the whole team is focused on the upcoming lava planet DLC.
This expansion brings a new story campaign that introduces a set of new characters. Players will explore a volcanic lava planet and intricate industrial facilities while they interact with over a dozen new units, each possessing their own unique strengths and abilities.
