Re: What does even partly (manual) mean?

Not so sure. Elephants are already pretty strong, and even if they rout, they don´t seem to backfire that dramatically. (Unless the whole line is in the red already.)

We need to consider whether it would be better to change the manual or the code.
I think a case could be made for either option.

In the meantime, thank you for the clarification; appreciated!

Is the similar true in the second case? (Medium foot etc vs. partly Mounted/Medium/Heavy foot in open)

Re: What does even partly (manual) mean?

Possible, but consider the following situation: Hoplites are in combat with Elephants and Irregulars. They draw against the Elephants, but lose against the Irregulars. When Cohesion testing, do they get the -1 modifier? Taking the manual literally, they shouldn´t, because they didn´t lose against th...

What does even partly (manual) mean?

Each close combat is unit vs. unit. There is no unit that is partly Elephants or partly Scythed Chariots or partly Impact Foot. What is the manual trying to say here?

Tournament Round IV Army Comparison

I believe the successful conquest of Iberia is a foregone conclusion. :) For once, the Carthaginians clearly have the upper hand in what is, perhaps, the most one-sided battle in the tournament. The Iberians are a very good tribal army, but they are a tribal army nonetheless, and the terrain is not ...

If no difference, please remove one. It´s simply irritating not to know which of the two to install. :?

Re: Increase number army point in custom battle

Alternatively, can I change "2000" to "3000" to minimize the bug risk? Yes, but not in your main build if you ever want to play MP. Yes, I will only try that after the tournament is finished! But I can change it back later and play MP again, right? Bonus question: If the other player makes exactly ...

Re: The mobility of the cavalry : move, secondary ZoC and automatic path

The problem is the borderline cases where it is not obvious (from the manual as written) if a move is possible or not without trying it out, which makes it impossible in more than a very few cases to plan more than one move ahead. Or, put shortly, the movement rules are not in all cases perfectly cl...

I do not disagree. Both can win. But the Carthaginians have to put more work in.

Re: Field of Glory II “Rise and Fall of Carthage” - Join the Tournament

It was probably part greenish, part desert; Tunisia is still both.
Desertification happened earlier, about 6.000-2.500 BC. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sahara#De ... ic_climate

But if it´s too late to alter the setup, that´s ok. Was just an idea.

Re: Field of Glory II “Rise and Fall of Carthage” - Join the Tournament

Suggestion: Perhaps make the 2nd Punic War (Hannibal in Africa) game desert terrain? After 4x mediterranean games, a change of scenery wouldn´t be bad. Just saying.

I think Combat Mission 1 BB and AK were good examples of what you have in mind. Rather good simulations and quite challenging; a bit cumbersome to play though with all the necessary micromanagement.

Tournament Round III Army Comparison

The army of the Middle Roman Republic combines enormous power with limited flexibility. Romans have excellent HI, decent MI an LI and little else. They must try to slug it out; Carthaginians must try to maneuver, for which they are well suited. Romans have 1 or 2 Armoured Cavalry; Carthaginians have...

Re: Rise and Fall Krimisos AAR & Analysis

I think it was very hard to come up with anything to beat the all-purpose Syracusan setup above. But my opponent had to try something, and what he did try was to send a detachment around the little lake on the left to attack my flank. The problem with this strategy was that I could countermarch wth ...

Re: Discussion: RCE Games

Ok, let´s get the ball rolling: I will try an analysis from the viewpoint of the operator and from the viewpoint of the player. These viewpoints are not necessarily antagonistic, assuming the whole thing is not a scam. If I were the operator, I would want to 1. make a profit; 2. not go to jail; 3. h...
