Re: Please set the turn time to one season per a turn

if a campaign has more turns than Civilization (400-500 usually), I am definitely *not* gonna buy Infact, buy or not buy is your business, but I should noticed you civilization is a 4X historically authentic game, fog:empire is a historically accurate game,so they have *no* comparability. So much the ...

Re: Does the AI actually play to win?

Perhaps; but in case of the Necrons or Tyranids I wouldn´t think they are all too individualist.

Re: Please set the turn time to one season per a turn

Whatever you do, if a campaign has more turns than Civilization (400-500 usually), I am definitely *not* gonna buy it.

I´d absolutely prefer 4 years per turn to 4 turns per year.

Re: Does the AI actually play to win?

I think AI should always simulate the faction, with more or less competence and loyalty bonus according to difficulty level.

Re: Game speed - resolution of melee

I agree with both Froz and Paul59.

One other thing: The replay in MP is too *fast* for my taste. Could that be (optionally) slowed down?

Re: Adding a little Chaos

I am not sure about the need of much FoW on the tactical level. But one could perhaps force a player to set up first if he has significantly less Light Cavalry.

Re: Does the AI actually play to win?

Errr, no, the AI should simulate Necrons, Orcs, Imperials & Space Marines who all want to win at all cost. In the 41st millennium no one wants to live and let live or fight honourably. Emperor preserve us of such delusions!

Re: Tracks

Even when following a forest path I think it's pretty much as 'not-open' as it gets. Heavy infantry and cavalry that usually benefit from 'open' wouldn't be able to use their formations properly on some wagon trail flanked by trees while medium and light units wouldn't be inconvenienced so much. +1

Good point. Still believe HI should be disordered and LI be able to melee in woods, tracks or no tracks...

Re: Please set the turn time to one season per a turn

I think this crucially depends on the period you are planning to cover.

If we are talking about one century, max, then one year/turn sounds good. If the game is to span 500 years, then I´d prefer 5 years/turn, certainly not one. :!:

I can buy this. Also, if anything, ZoCs are possibly a bit too strong, certainly not too weak.

Re: Adding a little Chaos

IF POSSIBLE, an optional rule that reduces player control would be interesting. How about putting this somewhere in the middle ground of the wish list?

Re: Tracks

If that is so, I´d prefer getting rid of the tracks altogether. Imagine Varus being quite safe in the German woods as long as all his men are staying on tracks…

I also think that Light Cavalry should prevail over Light Infantry. Is it historical that they don´t? :?:

The entire square is considered open for both movement and combat.
Sure? This is a bit weird.

They seem to mostly run through open terrain, though. I actually can´t remember ever having seen a track run through marsh or woods.

The earliest armies are not very exciting but will be covered for the sake of completeness. It starts to get really interesting about 1600 BC.
Looking forward to the 13th century empires! :D

Re: Tracks

They only really have an effect when they pass through woods or other non-open terrain. The track squares are treated as open terrain. For movement only I hope? They do not negate any defensive benefits of terrain? Could the alley trees in the open be made to stand out a little less? They tend to m...

Tracks

They feature rather prominently on many maps. My question:
Do tracks and the trees lining them actually give a bonus to movement or defense to anything? Or are they just a distrack-tion? :)

Re: Things we learned the hard way.

IIrc, medieval Knights complained about crossbows, too, when they became the rage in Europe. Can´t have a commoner simply shoot a Knight from his horse! :)
