Re: An All-out Slugfest

I would certainly be interested. Perhaps instead of drafting countries, just set up for balance, some teams like - Carthage - Epeiros - Sparta - Ptolemaios - Seleukos x Rome - Macedonia - Athens - Lysimakos - Antigonos. Either way id love some total war team deathmatch. I'm hoping drafting would en...

An All-out Slugfest

So I saw that OT game, which I have no idea what it is but there appeared to be two teams. And it got me thinking, I've played about 50-60 turns of truly involved games (after the initial spree), and have only really had one truly epic interesting war. As much as I love the diplomacy and building ga...

Re: Field of Diplomacy: A New World Order

Fair points- I'll carry on then since the majority seem keen to continue the struggle. It would be a pity to waste all this managing empire and conducting diplomacy time. Ledo, would you continue as well? You'd be missed! In the mean time, the other game has been setup so feel free to join if you w...

Re: Field of Diplomacy: Winds of Change

Since the other game is most likely collapsing with the Seleucids leaving, I probably will play Carthage again if I can. I don't play singleplayer and I don't like to have more than one game running at a time, so I'd rather just play Carthage because that's the country I enjoy most, and actually kno...

Re: Field of Diplomacy: A New World Order

The Seleucids and the Lysamachids are now out. As much as i hate to, I think that's a bit much for continuing the game.

Re: Field of Diplomacy: A New World Order

Ah, it seems we have decent interest! Makes sense to switch things around for a new game. Let's keep this topic for the current game and I can start a new topic for the new one- Winds of Change (I think Geffalrus is busy with a FOG2 tournament so not active in FOGE atm). As usual, priority will be ...

Re: Field of Diplomacy: A New World Order

I'll play a new game too, although it might get a bit confusing with two diplomacy intensive games running with the same players at the same time. Might actually have to play someone other than Carthage, to keep track of it.

Re: Game Playability

Personally, I don't mind knowing that as a tier 3 nation I am probably not going to win or it's going to be an uphill struggle. If people want a more balanced mode and the devs want to do it then fair play, personally I probably wouldn't bother playing it as a lot of the flavour of the game for me ...

Re: Killer Stacks

I think the supply system is a bit too permissive. Right now there's not much difference between a 5 food consumption stack and a 25-food consumption stack, because if a province is not stripped dry, it generally has enough for everyone - especially when you take the foraging value into account. I'...

Re: Enemy Fleets/Armies Moving Through Each Other

There is a difference to make between fleets and armies. Army, if they moved opposed to each other, one should repulse the other. If you are sure it did not happen, then identify the turn before the actual movement, then: Send the file(s) to support@slitherine.co.uk, copy-paste the thread URL and t...

Re: Enemy Fleets/Armies Moving Through Each Other

I have encountered this behavior multiple times and with both fleets and armies. The latest instance happened the other night between opposing armies. My interpretation of what I am seeing are 2 opposing armies in regions that are next to each other. They are both given orders to enter the other's ...

Re: False Allies

History is replete with instances of one ally breaking an alliance and attacking the other. As the game stands it takes two turns to break an alliance and then declare war, in my view this is plenty of warning. +100 Agree completely. I agree with this completely too. It happened in Greek times, thr...

Re: False Allies

It's an expected value thing. Cooperation is always better than a free for all for your chances. The only question is trust. If the latter question can be definitively answered in the positive then it's always in your interest to ally. Even if your chance to win remains under 50%. Unless, of course,...

Re: False Allies

I think it's a difficult question. I've played games where I consistently gain allies even if I regularly win. One of the reasons is that the alliance is based on both I will fight to death to protect you and also I won't betray you even if you're winning. Now when you have an ally like that, you're...

Re: False Allies

I think things generally work pretty well in terms of backstabbing getting its just desserts except at the beginning and end of a game. Generally when dealing with other people diplomatically in real life you're operating in a continuum where there will be long-term consequences for your behaviour, ...

Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?

No I had the same thought. I was just worried people would freak out when the message popped up. I just ignore it in most cases. I figure its unlikely anyone's actually bothering to mod the game to their advantage, and if they are there's not much I can do about it.

Re: Brilliant strategy by Rome AI

In my current game as Judea, Rome leads the world in legacy, and has for many turns. Rome has taken all of Italy, southern Germany, Illyria, Dalmatia, Dardania, and the surrounding areas, Epirus, Greece, Macedonia, Thracia, nearly all of Anatolia, and southern Gaul. They have not had a major war wi...

Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?

Those on steam may me be auto-patched without realising it, so it will probably be better just to message everyone to ignore the script warning when the patch comes out. Yeah I was thinking about this for our other game. Technically you can revert back to the previous version (usually) in the steam...

Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?

That's really interesting. I was really wondering whether the lower tier walls were worthwhile considering how easy it is to assault because the defenders don't get a general. I was going to check if there was some way to fix that, but that is clever solution. I will start doing that.

Re: Antigonids - Am I reading it right?

To be fair I did mention war weariness in the first paragraph. But it's easy to miss. What are the conditions for a war, do the picts not count. Usually I see players dowed on countries like Colchis or Bosporus, relatively close, but unlikely to attack you. Is there some other condition that has to ...
