Has the split unit mounted movement issue been addressed this time? It doesn't seem to be on the list.

Re: Do17z & Do 217e
The limited range of the Do17Z is an issue as early as one of the first scenarios, Poland South.
The Do217E is a fine strategic bomber.

Re: Generalissimus Campaign - No Liberator/Trophies of War/Heroes
There is a weird bug with it, though, with the AA and AT units being treated as separate entities for some reason. Though it indeed looks like a bug, I'm not sure if it isn't due to how the capture system works, with equipment being captured as the class it uses at the time. As an unrelated, but si...

Re: A Certain Panzer General's Adventures -- Generalissimus (No Liberator / Trophies of War / Heroes)
SineMora has a sixth sense for the subtle difference between split units inflicting 2 or more kills, or 1 kill. It might be easier to do with Soviet equipment, or with units without Rapid Fire, as soft targets were too frail to capture largely intact for even my split units. It's certainly impressive.

Re: A Certain Panzer General's Adventures -- Generalissimus (No Liberator / Trophies of War / Heroes)
Hmm, the AI is very passive in Kharkov '42.
Soviet armour, even with 6 unsuppressed steps, should've been able to knock out the recon units south-west of Balakliya easily.
That's one issue with playing like this: it very painfully exposes the rather limited AI programming.

Re: No heroes Generalissimus campaign AAR
Well, it looks like I'll have to change my campaign path plan of taking the "other" route through the early scenarios compared to the first attempt as I can't get through Norway North. It's the first scenario where I feel the turn limit is too tight with Race against Time. You have 15 turn...

It's a very useful feature, one that can reduce the brightness ("glare") of the ground textures considerably.

Re: I would be the first to admit I was wrong...
That's also why I restarted without positive traits. It's still challenging to capture as many units as possible, but winning isn't really an issue even with "Race against time" on. In many cases, the AI is at most reactive. It just sits there until it knows it can whack something. That ca...

Re: Merging Units with transport?
When I was doing my previous run with positive traits, I moved infantry units as single units most of the time due to how frail they are in general, and even more so when split. (Half-)Tracked units tend to have enough mobility to merge in a convenient manner. One thing you can do until this is fixe...

Re: Bug Reports
Good find.
As far as I know, suppression can only ever increase during a side's phase (aside from it decreasing through combat, but that seems to be a bug). It will only decrease at the start of the next phase for that side.

That's one of the bugs that haven't been dealt with. See the 4th and 6th posts on this page: http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=464&t=97527&start=60 You can merge the units again through manually mounting the part you want to merge with the part that moved away in a wagon/truck/...

Re: How to level up recon planes?
Let them loiter in range of enemy AA or enemy fighters. It costs some prestige, but they'll slowly gain experience from casualties suffered.

Re: Are attack values high enough?
As long as you're fighting close to your own airfields, you will kill enemy aircraft very quickly. The 109 is, in fact, far superior to anything you'll fight in '39-40. Expecting one or two-shots on enemy planes when you're chasing them all the way across the map is a bit much, I think. The Bf 109E...

Re: Pioniere Balance
I'm not convinced Pioniere are overpowered. They're not like the Sturmpioniere of previous games, take high losses and due to 15 strength infantry will rarely do more than about 1/3 damage to enemy infantry units unless the Pioniere have heroes or additional strength points. If anything, I find infa...

Re: Are attack values high enough?
There's no unit in the game that requires that many hits to kill, assuming you're using the right tools for the job, e.g., infantry will die to practically anything in the open and tactical bombers will wreck heavy armour. To score a lot of kills you need more than good offensive stats, though -- y...

Re: No heroes Generalissimus campaign AAR
I've been wrestling with Norway North (boy, is that scenario a pain compared to Norway South) for so long that the autosaves for Poland were gone, hence the sparsity of details. The cores are slightly different between Poland North and Poland South. You get a strategic bomber and the Panzer 38(t)A i...

Re: No heroes Generalissimus campaign AAR
The same as before, without inept logistics: Slow modernization, no overstrength, retrograde. One obvious and also not so obvious advantage from overstrengthening a unit is that you can make stronger attacks from a single hex. That's very useful when you face locking ZOCs and can only get one unit i...

Re: A Certain Panzer General's Adventures -- Generalissimus (No Liberator / Trophies of War / Heroes)
Nice result. I'm not sure whether the Panzer IIC is obsolete at this point, the units you're losing are all detached units and Panzer III's would take maybe only 1 less strength point damage. Judging by your screenshots, it seems to be mostly a matter of the AI picking a weak unit holding the perime...

Good luck with Moscow, I wonder how often the AI will counter-attack when you (try to) create encirclements.
