and experience shouldn't be too good, so you can't just use one elite unit with a really high level to kill a whole army.
And mercenaries would also be cool, they might have a preset level and you pay them for each battle they fight in :D

Well, for instance the battle of Hastings was small yes, only 7,000 per side. But there were other battles throughout europe and the middle east. The battle of Manzikert had about 30,00 per side. EDIT- Oh nvm, I just saw that you can only play as the French or the English. That's a bummer but I bet...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blood_of_Heroes http://imdb.com/title/tt0094764/ I believe that this game was in a film called "the blood of heroes" (above)... and it's set in an apocalyptic future! And here's a clip from the film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbvujqiN3RY

For what it is worth, some ideas about non-linear campaigns. Obviously, I'd love to be doing what you guys are doing, but since I can't, I have to be satisfied with fantasizing about the games I would like to be able to design. I'm envious! Some of these are more of storytelling techniques than gam...

What about a stone-age strategy game?! Here's a thought of how a stone-age strategy game would look like: You'd control groups of about 20-30 hairy men & arm them with rocks and spears... Then you'd send them out of your caves and make the hunt mammoths and raid neighboring villages  Oh, an...

There are tons of these kinds of back of a matchbox calculations about the money made by MMOs on lots of MMO forums. The big issue is that the cost of enterprise-level servers and networking is very very different to what you and I pay for our network connections. They do make money - but they can'...

cool 8) I'm actually not that much into MMO games, or at least I don't play them much, so you don't need to worry about satisfying my thirst for MMO games (not that I'm of any particular importance)... just thought a MMO would be a funny idea. But anyways I wish you luck with all your current projec...

MMORPG/MMORTS!

Hey, why not make a MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role-playing game) something like WOW or summin, but just in really historically accurate form, and probably in some certain period, like 15-1600, when the europeans were colonizing the world. You would play an adventurer and you'd fight pirates...
