Re: What do you hope to see added before Fog II ends?

:) To me it seems that at times, I can teleport through a wormhole of connecting tiles. And it gets even better, because after those skirmishers get out of my phalanxes', way there just happens to be medium foot unit that I stumble into at full charge. (It makes up for all those times "push back" pu...

Re: What do you hope to see added before Fog II ends?

I might be mistaken, but it has seemed to me that I can get heavier units more forward sometimes by chasing evading skirmishers than simply marching.

Of course, we have people here like Mike and Chris who would set up tests and statistics, but there may be an exploit in there somewhere.

Re: Beginner's Guide Video Series

I took a pair of Indian archers into a Macedonian army in two fights. Now, during the first fight, I thought they were great due to their numbers and that they bring down a deluge of arrows. But in the second fight, I discovered that they don't know how to evade ... idiots ... like it takes professi...

Re: What do you hope to see added before Fog II ends?

Yes, I would like to see a replay functionality which operates: * By single unit action. * Side action. * Entire game. (So, the first two are discrete steps, and the last is just continuous, and the ability to flip between modes.) Finally, this would be programmatically ease to do. Why? (1) You have...

This game is just great fun.

A combined plan/AAR of a fight I just had. (from Alex what if campaign)

Re: FoG Machine Learning Prediction Project

One of the stats, I would have been interested in is how predictive is drawing first blood of a game win?

Re: Beginner's Guide Video Series

I recall from Napoleonic games that squares were to counter cavalry flank charges.

In this game, when and why am I going to use the square?

What characteristics does it have during impact/melee with foot and cavalry?

Thanks.

All versions: Buttons move out from under mouse

There are buttons to step forward and backwards through regions and provinces. With provinces this is problematic, since the location of the button depends on how many regions are contained within the province. So, if you thought you are going to quickly cycle through your provinces and review them;...

Re: FoG Machine Learning Prediction Project

My first reaction to the project was that you will destroy this game with your findings, but then I realized chess is still going strong despite the fact that my phone can beat Magnus Carlson (best player currently). {and chess engines have assisted in the analysis and enjoyment of the game for many...

Re: FoG Machine Learning Prediction Project

Jomni, I was going to tell you about this, but easier to read. Traditional chess programming has been going on for about 30 years or so. You have basically 3 components: (1) Open based on %s of all games ever played. (Table look up) (2) Middle based on heuristic search and numerical rating of board ...

Campaign garrisons?

I am not really sure I understand the point of this?

Do they alter the flow of the campaign events? Does the enemy ever retake a former strategic position for lack of a garrison?

Or does this option exist solely to allow you to rebalance your army composition?

Re: What to do?

I didn't necessarily plan for the OPFOR (AI) to immediately make a dash for it. I had intended to fight the AI elsewhere with less strength, but attempt to out maneuver it. My plan was to weaken it greatly ... as every moment it became weaker, the position you see becomes stronger. As the name of th...

What to do?

When you have the perfect position to break the enemy, and they won't attack it? (got a win any way, but it was a waste)

Battle #1 of the Alex What If Campaign.

Re: New TT Mod version 1.5.18 now available!

Paul, Yes, thank you. The spirit of modding is a very refreshing counter-balance to companies ... that build business models around nickel and dime-ing a customer base: * You want a breast plate, $5 please. * You want blood, $5 please. * You want variant facial expressions, $5 please. I don't know i...

Re: Things we learned the hard way.

I only came to this game (didn't even know it existed) due to AGEOD's Empires (former member of AGEOD) and I saw the bundle offer and figured "Why not?". I have played quite a few exported Empire battles via FOG2. If you are only using FOG2 to resolve empire battles, you are doing yourself a disserv...

Re: Things we learned the hard way.

Ah, a great thread ... first time I have seen it. No one has said ... Forgot whatever you have learned from TW both vanilla and heavily modded Rome total conversions. (talking mechanics and game AI here) (1) Skirmishers only show their strength in TW in specific conditions. FOG2 almost always has so...
