Re: Historicon 2013

Jeff Fletcher and I will be coming in for sure, not sure about Doug Anderson (who played DBM last year). We'll be playing R on Thursday, not sure about Friday and hopefully playing 25mm on Saturday. I do have a 15mm army from my DBM days, however a) I play only once a year b) I haven't played a sing...

I'd also join the chorus as well. I'd prefer an open - that is probably the best bet for a new rule set where people are lucky to have one army painted.

Also, I think these discussions need to happen here on the forum and not via e-mail so everyone can have their opinion.

Viability of Later Ottomans as a Tournament Army

I just finished test playing a list against the Poles. I don't have time to play a lot so looking for input on this list. I'd like to build it, but don't want to spend a bunch of money on an army that may be a dog in tournaments. It seems that they are not going to have a good answer against high qu...

Skirmishers running away too easily

Don't make too many changes to screw up the game.

I think in general we should tone down the advantages to winning initiative a little bit. The above suggestions work.

Maybe north of the mason-dixon line will be 25mm and south 15mm? I don't want you to think that those of us up north are trying to make up for other inadequacies though!

If I remember correctly, all the DBR tournaments at Historicon were 25mm, so there may be a lot of legacy armies in that scale. Columbus will be all 25mm from what I hear.

I think you'll end up slowing down the game, the first moves would then be to fill up the table edges and gaps.

Re: Infantry turn and move

Another solution is that any BG that fails a CMT can't move or change formation. It's assumed the unit failed to respond to orders, fell into disorder and the officers spent the rest of the turn getting things under control. Makes fannying around near the enemy that much more interesting. This seem...

I think there may be too many unintended consequences of big changes on the armor POA. I think it is better to change the movement rates and/or change the cost.

Are ECW armies competitive so far? I haven't seen the rules or the lists, but I'd like to build ECW for both FOG:R and other systems.

More specifically on evasion - you could have 2 tables, one for the evader, one for the charging unit. You could then tweak the ranges so that evaders are slightly more easy to be caught by the charging unit. Also, if it hasn't been mentioned, evading off the table causes 2 attrition.

Did you know that you are required to drink beer in the 25mm open? I know this isn't in the rule book per se, but I believe its implied on page 67 paragraph 2... Now looking forward to the day where we have more 25s than 15s. As we all age the scales may have to grow so we can still see them  ...

I'll volunteer to be "odd man out" on Friday for 25mm. I have an army for the theme, but I've also signed up for some non-FOG games. I'll play the theme if I'm needed to make an even number. However, I'm there for Saturday whether I'm needed or not

Details, more to come as we finalize the attendance list: 25mm 800 points, 3 rounds on Saturday (this will include adjusted start positions as we've used at Historicon etc) Maybe 15mm 800 points, 3 rounds on Saturday - this depends on primarily if we get the Cincy group Prizes will be provided by Os...

Yes, we can do 15s for sure as long as we get some Cincy people. Lets keep in touch on this so I can keep everyone informed.
