Re: nuclear standoff and other stuff
Would love to: a) have option to turn off nukes (and higher versions) of weapons of mass destruction...can this make it into the next stable release? FYI I have no idea was the "proposed release feature set is" so forgive if this is already in there). Suggested countless times. The best t...

Re: Steam Release?
It's funny, because I remember when it was announced that Civ 5 would only be on Stream. People were throwing fits and saying they would not buy the game if it forced them to install Steam! Now people are saying I won't buy a game unless it's on Steam. Which clearly shows that it'd be better...

Re: Steam Release?
I've noticed that people that don't play a lot of video games generally tend to view Steam as an annoyance. They will usually prefer to buy a boxed copy of the game, and won't bother with any downloading, registration, etc... and often won't do any patching either. True. I know couple of people lik...

Re: Steam Release?
Note that he ended his sentence with "for me", so it wasn't generalized. Games worth a manual installation don't exist, for him . Some people might not have but an hour or two every now and then for gaming. It's not unreasonable for them to wish to spend that little time playing rather tha...

Re: Renamable Units Please
You can rename unit designs, unit names, city names, etc. Whenever a name has a small icon resembling a pen next to it, it can be clicked and then edited. For example, in workshop, select a unit design and click on the name (at the top-right, not in the list) to edit it. Or in the city screen, click...

Re: Small issue with the randomized tech tree
I like the randomization the way it is too. This way I often need to adapt my strategies and priorities according to the research tree, instead of having everything pre-planned from the start. While each faction has its own bonuses suited for different victory conditions, the research tree (and the ...

Re: Different weapons
Each weapon type has power bonuses and/or penalties against various types of units. eg. Flamethrowers are +50% against biological units, so they're best used against infantry and aliens. Missiles are good against vehicles, but have penalties against infantry, and so on. The bonuses are displayed in ...

Re: Suggestion: Building wealth is overpowered
I just generally find the economic victory condition boring. Research kinda too. You just amass as much as possible of one resource to win. It's a bit too simple and straightforward. Just like there's been discussion that the research victory could be nicer if you needed to research a special tech o...

Re: Field Training
Some operations can be used every X turns, while some have limited number of uses. General rule seems to be that if you build an operation, it's single-use (field training, cloning, etc), but if you build a structure that provides an operation (recon satellite, orbital bombardment, nuke, etc), then ...

Re: A Crying Shame!
Your game can't be a hit if nobody knows about it. Seconded, or thirded or whatever. I'm, as usual, advocating Steam, but there are many other ways to get exposure as well. With all respect, I get this feeling that Slitherine/Proxy doesn't even care about getting the game out there. I see no visibl...

Re: AI Improvements
AI's have declared war on me many times. In almost every game Imperium and Ascension both have done that eventually. In addition to military strength, there's also diplomatic relationship to consider. My playstyle rarely involves any pacts or paying tributes or anything, so unless a faction worships...

Re: Thoughts on Diplomacy
First question that comes to mind is, how much warning should there be before a faction declares war? Should it be a surprise, or obvious? I get the feeling that different players would have different preferences, so can it be an option at startup e.g. whether to display an "aggression level&q...

Some of the best news yet! Can't wait for an expanded soundtrack.
[EDIT]
Just went through the music files. Some of my favorite tracks are:
Defender, Lode, Nebula, Doomed, Target, Thrill

Definitely like the idea of being able to sell/trade excess food/minerals, or buy them if in desperate need.

Re: Is there a defense against nuclear attack?
The city defense buildings (Adaptive Bunker Wall is the first, Defense Network was second, I think, and then there's a third one) decrease damage from such ops. However, nothing's stopping the AI from dropping all its nukes (or orbital bombardments) at once in one place, so essentially they always h...

Re: Steam Release?
Thanks for the posts but we have a strategy which has worked well for the last 13 years and we are not planning GoG, EA origins etc. We have a Steam account are looking at that but this is the only platform we are considering for next year. The fact that you're relying on distribution strategy that...

Re: Steam Release?
The only thing holding this game back is it's lack of exposure and Steam would multiply this game's awareness by a factor of over 10. (NOT an exaggeration.) Indie games with production values that are much lower than that of Pandora regularly quadruple their profits by inclusion on Steam. I'm sayin...

Re: Steam Release?
You can add Pandora to Steam and even use the Steam-Overlay. In your Steam Client lower left corner click on + ADD A GAME -> Add a Non-Steam Game then point to Pandora.exe You find the Pandora.exe ,assuming you used the default location during installation at C:\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Pando...
