Break tests question

Am I correct in assuming some armies have a better chance of passing break tests due to higher morale or unit cohesion. For example Romans have more staying power than Carthaginians, and would take more losses before disrupting or fragmenting. If so - is this morale/cohesion or X-factor thats specif...

Charge path curio.

I was curious about this odd charge path. I'm playing Arabs (Yellow) I wanted to park my cav (commander with the beveled box around it) in front of the arrowed unit. However, that square was not available to move into. I can however, charge the unit - which I did. Is it odd that I can charge the uni...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

Some things that could work. How about one combat re-roll per general. That could eliminate some of the offensive miss-rolls. On the receiving end; maybe units stacked with a general can be exempt from double drops - presumably the general would be in a key position in the line. Rally issues - must ...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

3-1 score - Here is a general question for opinions. Twice in this tournament I have missed out on a point by seeing opponents rallying in the last move take my score below the 50% needed to gain a point while my opponent gets over the line. The first was 53% shifting to 49% but otherwise well beat...

I'll be up for that - maybe you will get a bad all infantry army with no skirmishers - lol, and I'll beat you, also - lol

Re: The poll on player army choices is now closed . . . 23-20 in favour of no change

Just a suggestion. It seems there are some commonly picked armies that consistently outperform. Perhaps removing the top winning armies from selection is an easy way to explore options. Also, consider a civil war division listing perhaps Rome and its allies only (for example). Perhaps a potluck-vs p...

Re: [SUGGESTION] Autocharge

Phydna 168BC - Amilius (medium infantry legion) on the rough ground foothills of Mt Olocrus vs Perseus (phalanx) on the plains below behind a river on top of a low ridge. Each on their own favored terrain, neither would move. The battle eventually kicked off when fighting broke out over a Roman mule...

Tosca said it was something he was modding in Empires that caused it.

Re: Different Script Restart

My opponent was Tosca - looking on the forum history this has happened with him in a tourney some while ago. It appears the combat results may differ in the replay. I kind of noticed units seemed oddly placed on a few occasions - but I wasn't really looking too closely and was loosing badly anyway.

Re: Different Script Restart

In a game that's gone for a good few turns I have just opened my turn and got a popup that said something along the lines of, ' Ask your opponent why they are using a different script - we recommend abandoning the game and restarting" . I've not encountered this before - what does it mean has happe...

Re: Poll on player army choices restriction

I don't think its necessary. If I loose too many with an army it won't see me as its general for the next season (no more Indians or Spartans for me). Not only that, but after 9 games I feel like a change anyway based on what I've seen other players doing (against me).

Re: Fall back cohesion test conditions

A feigned retreat would have to be a pre arranged tactic. I doubt it could be co-ordinated on the hop. It would be good to be able to do that in game but the only way I could think how to do it would be higher priced versions of the units that don't suffer fallback penalties. That could certainly ad...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

Perhaps switching to hexes would help - then you can 3 frontal sides 2 flank and 1 rear. It would require more skill to really flank a unit. Actually - often wondered why this is a square based game rather than hexes. (Don't need to answer - thats probably off limits - lol)

Re: Fall back cohesion test conditions

how you get a phalanx to move backwards in real life with the din of battle etc , without it being disrupted wherever it was would be a very difficult task. Getting 1000 men with 18 foot pikes to stop at the same time and move backwards then stop at the same time without loosing formation under the ...
