Re: convoy suicide
The easiest fix would be to constrain the starting hexes for the northbound convoy to those that are not an even multiple of convoy moves from Brest.

Thanx
Thanks,
That did the trick. One issue remains. GS appears to have two levels of zoom where 1.12 had three levels. This may be due to me clicking the wrong box for graphic quality that came up at first launch. I tried uninstall/reinstall but that question was not asked again. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Thanks for the pointers so far. The origional Matrix install was at: C:\Matrix Games\Commander Europe At War I installed GS there. Then I got a message that it was searching for java.exe. I located java.exe at C:\i386 and pointed to it. Now when the program starts a DOS window pops up for a second a...

Playing the allies against max dificulty Axis AI
This can be tough if you place some restrictions on the western allies.
1. No more than one MOT and 2 INF to support France before it falls.
2. No invasion of Italy, Germany, or conquered France, Belgium, or Holland.
You win if the Axis is driven out of Russia and lose if Russia falls.

GS for Matrix Install
Is there a description somewhere for what needs to be done to install GS on a machine with the Matrix version patched to v1.12?

That is really tough. The one game where the AI lost involved starting Barb in mid-1940. Take down Poland FAST. Take down Holland. and position to then take out Belg in one turn. Drive straight to Paris and then spend to rail the army east. Do most fighting in Poland. Don't enter Russia with the min...

Production
One little UI tweak I would like to see is that the last selected build for a given country is the default choice when reentering that country's screen at a later time. So for example if building a destroyer for the UK and then changing to the USSR the selected build would be an armor or corp or wha...

So we need a simple rule that would ensure all countries experience the challenges they faced in the real war. Launching an invasion should not be easy and something you do on impulse. The good thing about linking the number of amphs to the tech level in surface ships is that you then have a chance...

Re: Suggestions
2. Put some effectiveness penalty on Axis units that enter the Russian winter on turns after the winter starts. Personally, I can't think of a situation where I've been impacted by this. Do you have a specific example where this has had a significant impact on game?[/quote] Its gamey to see the axi...

Suggestions
1. Limit a country's embarked ground units to that country's number of surface naval units. Or maybe 1.5X with fractions round up. Or Maybe 1.5 for US, UK, and Germany, and 0.5 for Italy and Russia. In this way building a fleet would build AMPH capacity. There was no way that Germany or Russia could...

Portugal
Have you considered taking Portugal? It falls easily to two good ground units, three BB's and available CV's. A TAC or two will make it quicker. Basing a STRAT in Lisbon can hit subs in the Atlantic. Once taken, you can take Spain in two or three turns tops with three ARM, three MECH and some air. T...

Re: Super odd AI issue
As a related note on this, I invaded the UK and had captured Liverpool but not London. A UK convoy sailed into Liverpool harbor and stopped! IIRC, UK still had one hex next to the port. Thats odd enough. However, on the following turn UK CV units attacked the convoy and were intercepted by German f...

1. Make entrenching probabilistic. Supply status divided by 4 should be about right. So at supply state 5 a unit always entrenches with a 25% chance for two levels. At supply state 1 there would be only a 25% chance. After all, entrenchments require supply. 2. Require supply state 3 or better to upg...
