Ships "occupying" enemy port
I'm playing a pbem game as the Axis, and I went to invade Denmark on turn 2. Unfortunately, I was unable to capture it in 1 turn. My opponent, anticipating my invasion, had moved the British navy so he could intervene. He then sailed into the Baltic Sea and destroyed my BB. My problem is this: because he had a British BB sitting in the Copenhagen port when Denmark fell, that port remained Allied-controlled for all intents and purposes. That meant that he could freely sail ships into and out of the Baltic Sea until that ship left the port and "turned it over" to the Axis. I really don't like this rule or bug or whatever it is. Ships should get kicked out of hostile ports when the enemy captures them. Move them over a hex, or send them back to the production queue, or something. I hope this loophole will be addressed in a future patch.

You can attack the ship with your own infantry from copenhagen so their stay would not be very long. The rule is there to avoid odd chain reactions of units bumping away and blocking each others paths combined with invisible subs.
But, this is even more fair in the sense that you need to mass up on a country before you invade it. It would be kind of awkward to many if you can invade Denmark, Holland and Belgium already in 1939 without any problems, so for each of these plans there are counter tactics to intervene.

I see your point, but this rule is still very unfair to the attacking side, as it takes many turns to kill a BB with infantry and you can't attack the ship with your air force because it's in a "friendly" hex. How about this: the ship doesn't get kicked out of the port, but other ships can't pass through it. In other words, the British ship is allowed to stay in the Copenhagen port as long as it wants, but the port itself belongs to the Axis and cannot be used as a passageway for Allied ships. This solution would solve your problem of odd chain reactions among ships.
Super odd AI issue
As a related note on this, I invaded the UK and had captured Liverpool but not London. A UK convoy sailed into Liverpool harbor and stopped! IIRC, UK still had one hex next to the port. Thats odd enough. However, on the following turn UK CV units attacked the convoy and were intercepted by German fighters!!!

Why would the UK attack it's own convoy?fiskog wrote:As a related note on this, I invaded the UK and had captured Liverpool but not London. A UK convoy sailed into Liverpool harbor and stopped! Apparently because it was in a German port.rkr1958 wrote:Why would the UK attack it's own convoy?fiskog wrote:As a related note on this, I invaded the UK and had captured Liverpool but not London. O.K. But that seems like a waste to me. Why not force the Germans to clear out the convoy themselves in order to use the port instead of helping them?fiskog wrote:Apparently because it was in a German port.rkr1958 wrote:Why would the UK attack it's own convoy?fiskog wrote:As a related note on this, I invaded the UK and had captured Liverpool but not London.
