Re: Updating v1.12 to GS 3.1

I bought the game from slitherine originally (in 2009). Then when I got a new computer, I just zipped all the vanilla game files and transferred them to the new computer. I'm so confused right now. This page (http://www.slitherine.com/ceaw_gs3) says I need CEAW v2.1 to install GS 3.1? Will it not wo...

Updating v1.12 to GS 3.1

How do I update my vanilla v1.12 to the GS 3.1 mod? All I can find is this website from Matrix: http://www.matrixgames.com/products/344/downloads/ But the download is an installer that requires my cd key. I bought the game 6 years ago so I don't remember my key, and it seems very strange that I need...

Haven't played in ~5 years. Looking for a couple GS games.

Refresh my memory. Is GS 3.1 the descendant of the mod Ronnie et al cooked up back in 08? Is it still the preferred version? Anyways, I haven't played in a while and would like to start a couple non-rushed PBEM games. I am a grad student working on my dissertation, so if you don't hear from me for a...

Too Many Trees!

I love the game, but I'm having issues keeping track of my forces when they enter the woods. I'm sure part of this is by design, but is there any way to cut down on tree density by maybe 30-50% ? I just want to be able to see where my units are.

Maybe I haven't been paying attention enough, but I don't ever recall seeing a GS AAR where the Axis player successfully conquered Iraq. I've seen it in the BJR mod, but GS made it a lot harder. I made a very serious effort in my game against Joe to make it to Iraq, but was overwhelmed near Damascus...

I definitely think that the games feel a lot more scripted in the GS mod. It's like the same thing happens every time. And if you, as the Axis, deviate at all from a set time line of events then your Barbarossa really suffers and you have no chance against the Russians. It seems like in their quest ...

Are you going to go for the United States? That's the only way I've ever been able to get a challenge out of the AI.

I think you have a very strong position in the east, and I actually called this game for you as soon as Barbarossa started. But I am a little concerned about your lack of urgency in planning for the liberation of England. England should have been your number 1 priority the moment the USA entered the...

I think this AAR is a prime example of the worst-case scenario for the Axis involving Sealion. I've seen Sealion attempted numerous times in AAR's, by my opponents, and I've even done it a couple times myself. It almost never fails. The problem that you run into isn't being thrown back into the Engl...

Azores becames american base either on some specific turn in 1943 (don't remember exact date), or when Axis DoW Portugalia. By the way, Frank, did you got my mail with turns? I sent it sort of week ago, and got no response. Cheers. Nope I guess I didn't. I thought you forfeit, or am I thinking of a...

What happened to the Azores?

I'm playing a GS game right now and the Americans have just joined the fray. Yet I am still not able to utilize the Azores air base because it belongs to Portugal. Did yall make a change I don't know about?

I love it! I'm one of those weirdos who just cant adjust to using the unit pictures like everyone does on the AAR section. I agree they look kinda cool. But it can get confusing with all the plane pictures changing all the time, and the naval units are hard to distinguish from one another at first g...

If you don't know that a sub is based in an enemy port, then what is the point of bombing it? I've never been able to accomplish anything by bombing ports.

The point about the predictable convoys is a good one. I am playing a game against Leridano right now where I had a convoy start at 100 points and I gave it a full escort. My opponent, however, is holding it up with just one sub, since he knows exactly where the convoy will go. Each turn, the convo...
