I was thinking that it was something like that, thanks for the quick reply.
Enjoying the campaigns.
What does the future hold? I have not been keeping up.

Pike and Shot (Campaigns) Raising your own troops?
I select player in the starting options but if I buy a certain unit I sometimes get 2 or 3 other units that I did not buy?

Re: Stuck again this time Battle of Ivry .
You have three Royal Swiss to their two. The rule is, the one with the most Royal Swiss should win. ;) Seriously though, your Kurassiers trump his Gendarmes. Just do not get flanked and they will win three out of four melees. Shoot up his Early P&S, then melee your Royal Swiss against them. You...

Stuck again this time Battle of Ivry .
I cannot see a way to win, tried to break the centre, tried to withdraw to the hills tried to go around the flanks but no joy any advice.
I have reached the conclusion that this battle is impossible to win.

Re: Axtorna Help.
Think I figured it out, remain on the defensive and invite them to attack you, just got to 58% with a bit of luck should be able to get the 60%. Hmm, well when testing it I won by attacking all out. (Mainly to avoid being shot to pieces by the massed Swedish artillery). But there is usually more th...

Axtorna Help.
How in the name of God do you win this battle, playing only on Normal (Sergeant Major General) and usually after 2 or 3 tries I can figure out something to do but not this time.

Re: Disorder from Terrain
I wouldnt say the best place to defend is on open ground oposite rough, far from it! example medium foot in rough opposite heavy foot in clear. The medium can basically just shoot at the heavy foot, if the heavy shoots back, most rough terrian proviseds SOME cover to reduce causalties.... If the he...

Re: Disorder from Terrain
Let me get this right, if the enemy (on open ground) attacks me on rough ground both of us will suffer a disorder penalty but if I attack the enemy only I will suffer the disorder. So one of the best places to defend is on open ground opposite the enemy on rough ground. And a similar question when d...

Re: 3D models
Sadly no I am just a person that would (if he can remember how Blender works) make a few 3D shapes and give them textures.
I could ask around maybe someone would be interested.

Re: 3D models
Any way to import the 3D files into Blender, long time since I used Blender only basic skills but the models in game look very simple. Easy enough to change the textures and to increase the size of the .dds files and use a different pixel format but not really worth it for units may be worth it for ...

Some questions.
Playing away I presume on normal settings, win some battles lose some battles I usually win on the second try anyhow some general questions. 1\ Are Cuirassiers meant to go head to head with Pike and Shot ? The AI seems to have no problem doing this, I would have thought Cavalry must lose. 2\ Have a ...

Re: Thank you
Without starting a new thread, thanks for the game enjoying it so far and looking forward to trying out some of the user scenarios, still a bit lost in some of the battles but getting the hang of it. I would love to see some short of grand campaign in the future but that would I suspect be a major u...

Re: Weak AI
I enjoy the game find it addictive and I have played a lot so here is what I have found on the hardest difficulty. Playing both the Central Powers and the Entente. 1\ There are a few starting moves for each country that will set you up for the rest of the game once you learn them its a matter of tim...

Re: Gameplay Realism Mod
Can you post the contents of Libraries/Documents/My Games/Commander the Great War/ctgw.txt ? Just reproduced it... Seems to be a problem with allowing infantry to offload onto any railroad hex instead of only cities. I might have to remove that newly added feature... I think your right This seems t...

Re: Gameplay Realism Mod
Ah It was the hot fixes then. Perhaps this will help, Germany enters the war and you can move your units around the place, you can declare war on Belgium, you can even attack Liege but then for no reason you can click on a German or Austrian unit and the game will CTD. I did notice that at least one...

Re: Gameplay Realism Mod
Used your files I presume only those in the script folder and not your 1.5 folder anyhow game crashes when Germany attacks Belgium clicking on a unit causes the crash. I am using 1.6 with the hot fix for the trenches so its version 1.6.2 with your files. Double checked and I seem to be using the rig...

Re: Gameplay Realism Mod
Odd, in an unmodified game (1.6.2) I find that once you encircle the Russians Divisions around Warsaw and destroy them they have little or no reserves left because of the costs of the small Garrisons. The latest vanilla version of the game made it actually easier for the Central powers then the earl...
