Re: Internal Ally maxima

I can't say because it is for a convention and not all players have chosen their army.

Re: Internal Ally maxima

It does say choose an army based on the maxima and minima in the list below. Does this also apply to an ally general? The ally general and troops are the separate listing for allies where they can either be an ally for this list or selected to support another list.

Internal Ally maxima

I'm doing the list checking for a competition and a player has send in a list with an internal ally. Is he allowed to have more of a particular troop type than the maxima in the main list? The army in question does not specify if the player has to stay within the maxima. Nor does it say you can choo...

Re: New player looking for army suggestions

He beat up a Later Polish list last night with the Hungarians. A fun game to watch where both players plans were disrupted by a LH bow unit that held up a LH bow sword unit for many rounds of combat blocking the advance of both armies.

Re: New player looking for army suggestions

Sirius used the Later Hungarian list at the club today and ground down an Early Republican Roman Army. His next trick is to try not to throw lots of ones for death rolls.

Edit: Make that Late Republican.

Re: Flank charging a kinked column

I'm running Conquest down here in NZ in a couple of weeks and I've been asked how I would rule if this came up so this is my answer on the local wargaming forum: Normally my ruling on something like this would be determined by the quality of the alcohol bought for me. However for medical reasons I'm...

Re: Figure preparation HELL

i find that using a thinned down enamel based paint works best. It bonds with the metal and the acrylic paints cover easily.

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !

How about issuing update sheet(s) for owners of hard-copy V1, but still make all future "full" editions ipad/tablet/kindle only - and include some groovy enhanced features that the ipad can support? Like, imagine if the army lists were on ipad/pc, but included a drag-and-drop army list bu...

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !

Interpenetration anomalies prevented:
Leapfrogging prevented.
“Teleport” interpenetrations prevented.
Big discussion amongst local gamers as to what is meant by "Leapfrogging"

Is it normal interpenetration ie. LF through HF or something else.

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !

6) The plight of those who don't have e-readers / tablets is real. A good suggestion is a pdf file with just v2.0 amendments that can be purchased and printed since v2.0 isn't that different from v1.0. One advantage is that it retains some of the value of unsold books that are still in stores. It's...

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !

Ok so I have a PC at home but wargame at the club so unless someone there has an Ipod or laptop I'm not going to have access to the rules when I need them. As much as I enjoy playing FOG, I'm not prepared to spend money I don't have buying something I don't really need so that I can use it once or t...

In the appendix page 155:

"Unless specifically stated otherwise in an army list, all troops in an battle group must be of the same armour class. Excluding Light Foot, all the bases in a mixed battle group must be of the same armour class"

We have just completed a 650 pt tournament on 3 x 5 tables with normal terrain rules and deployment options. We played 2.5 hour games. The majority of the games played were completed within the allotted time with a clear result, 2 games timed out with a draw and 1 game was called by the players conc...

Impact foot charging

in a game today my opponent charged a couple of BGs into my defensive spear. in the movement phase he advanced a BG of undrilled HF impact foot/swordsmen into an overlap position. This brouht them into charge range of another BG of Defensive spear. In his next bound was he required to test not to ch...

I think you need to consider the implications before suggesting a rule. It would reduce the number of draws as if its going to be a draw you just point out to your opponent that if one will concede it is 10pts better for one side and 5 pt better for the other than a draw. As it got near the end of ...

Resolving the "Benny Hill" issue is delicate because restricting playability too much is a good way of losing players and killing a ruleset. Fundamentally, you need a system whereby you can do pretty much what you want for the first two hours of the game to gain an advantage (playability)...

i think the Impact Foot would charge. the rules state that the POs "count as Field Fortifications when their defenders are in close combat against mounted opponents..." so if the opponent the impact foot is facing is not mounted then the POs do not count for anything and there is no reason...
