Red coloured time for completion means your lacking a resource and cannot finish the build or you've got either civil unrest or the AI has destroyed your orbital platforms so you can no longer build corvettes at that location. What does getting these stars actually achieve for fighting ships and what espionage actions count for gaining experience because as you mentioned this makes a huge advantage? Also does having a training centre increase the rating of non military espionage vessels?

I had noticed about the defaults also, I found it a mildly annoying but far from game breaking. However I imagine its annoyance factor depends on how long you play for at a time, as I game only a couple of times a week but will play a game for 10+ hours straight so making a couple of changes doesn'...

Not sure about the first question but if containers of part of a space station are lost then as far as I can tell you've lost that station as I've had this happen to me via some sloppy stealth ships getting caught..
