Revenge on Hannibal - A Reverse Digital League Series

Post by Ludendorf »

Hi everyone,

I had a lot of success with my Hannibal in Africa army in the Classical Antiquity section of the Digital League. In light of this, I thought it might be interesting to swap armies with my opponents from the league and see how things went when the shoe was on the other foot. Below are the recordings of these reverse matches... a sort of revenge on Hannibal, if you will.

Thanks for video, Ludendorf: will look in detail when back from hiking week! Seems to have been quite balanced until the very end, from what I saw when fast forwarding the video. Main reflections and takeaways from all those fellow Light Javelin Horse in both army lists fighting each other?

No problem kronenblatt. There's not a whole lot more I can add to my original analysis. Light javelin horse to light javelin horse mostly comes down to fire concentration and numbers. If you can get three light javelin horse to shoot at one and cause a disruption or heavy casualties, then you can potentially break them with a charge and get an advantage over the remaining light horse that way.

One thing I would say is it is critical to have some light horse present when enemy light horse are around, because they can be a massive pain and a big distraction for the medium horse to have to deal with. To say nothing of the risk posed by people trapping their light horse in and holding much more expensive units in melee while more dangerous units make their move, or even just charging into the backs of the foot to cause disruptions. The above battle with SnuggleBunnies illustrates just how dangerous light horse can be if left unattended.
