I also liked the game: The AI is not bad, all units are useful and well balanced, most even when the game is well advanced.
The surprises put you on your toes. You also really have to change your style and tactic for conquering if you change your party. It runs smoothly on my 4 years old Dell G5. What's more?
Fantastic game!
Re: Fantastic game!
You don´t even understand the concept of combined arms.

Building a most diversified force should give you a big tactical advantage. In this game it doesn´t.
Re: Fantastic game!
If you don't know how to combine those different arms, sure the game won't do it for you.
Just play more so your learn the skill of combining arms.
I love playing Chaos Tactical Marines, but I know by themselves alone those good infantry are not strong, so I add them several others units.
Like you can try an armors only army, but it's not very strong as the planet has many forests and uneasy terrain.
Re: Fantastic game!
I haven´t played for a while, but as far as I recall, there are very few bonuses, if any, that are category versus specific category. There are not really dedicated tank destroyers, dedicated anti-infantry tanks, dedicated antitank-infantry, artillery is as good against tanks as against infantry and so on. Is there even a flanking bonus for additional adjacent units? That´s what I mean by combined arms. There is very little actual tactics in this game, let alone tactical realism.
You could argue it´s strategic level, but then why no supply lines? No advantage in isolating units. The game actually can´t decide if it´s tactical, operational or strategic, so instead it´s not realistic on any level.
Battlesector has some tactical realism, the old Armageddon is somewhst realistic at an operational level. Again, this game has no sclear scale, is a unit supposed to be literally 5 men or 500 or 5.000? I don´t know, the designers don´t know, so it´s not realistic, no matter if a unit is supposed to be a squad, a batallion or a corps.
