AO 1945 Problem in Berlin
Hi everyone...
I have a problem on the last mission of the historical route. I was expecting a fight to the bitter end trying to survive surrounded by all sides until turn 50 in Berlin but the mission stops after turn 4 and I do not have an idea why the mission ends.
It is this correct?
Thanks un advance for your help.

This mission will immediately end when that "Bunker" has been destroyed
Yes, you know, that "Bunker"

Yeah, you have to defend the funny mustache man's bunker. Even though he checked himself out by that point.Chepicoro wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 6:48 pm Hi everyone...

Re: AO 1945 Problem in Berlin
I also have a question for the End in Berlin scenario. I have just started it, currently at round 6 and it seems I can hold up the soviets with my army however, the ammo pool dramatically decreases every turn. I know, I can get additional ammo via capturing soviet units (I also have the perk & shock tactics / envelope heroes) but even so I´m quite concerned that I will not be able maintain the necessary ammo level until turn 50.
Is there any other way to get ammo into the pool in addition to capturing units or is it supposed to be that I will fail in any case? It´s just the matter of time?

Re: AO 1945 Problem in Berlin
It is designed that way. You are supposed to be destroyed and not win or even survive the map. If you wish for Wagner to live out his days post war with a "happy" ending, you are supposed to pick the Vienna route.truth80 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 2:10 pm I also have a question for the End in Berlin scenario. Re: AO 1945 Problem in Berlin
I found some solutions to survive the Berlin scenario. I would not spoiler too much, unless somebody needs some hints from me
I´m currently at turn 30, still strong and manage to get ammo into the pool. If there won´t be further devastating rush by the Soviets, there won´t be any issue. They are far from the bunker still.

Re: AO 1945 Problem in Berlin
My idea worked, Berlin is doable! I played on the 4th difficulty.
The tactic costs around 70-80k prestige. By turn 50 I was able to wipe out the soviets from the entire southern sector up to the line of the Flakturm and the bunker. The soviets did not even break through the Spree and the southern river. I lost some of my key units by the end...
Now I'm gonna start the ahistorical line

Re: AO 1945 Problem in Berlin
You need approx. 80k prestige for the scenario and the most important is to keep ammo in the pool. You can get ammo in the following ways:
- capturing units (Trophies of War perk helps a lot, use also Envelopment and Shock tactics heroes)
- disbanding units from your reserve (you get their prestige and ammo). You can already disband all your air units from the very beginning, there is no option to deploy them into Berlin.
- purchasing and disbanding units (keep some core slots free, I bought/disbanded Luchs recons, each provides 6 ammo for 210 prestige)
- after the first (and last) soviet air attack wave I disbanded all AA, around turn 20 I disbanded all weaker units (e.g. Hetzers and lot of Volkssturm - they are nearly useless). Use the Tiergarten supply hex for this.
As for the strategy: You need to keep all brigdeheads at all costs. For this, you will need plenty of artillery to suppress the crossing units. Use pioneer units and support them with the aux. grenadiers. I only used elite replacements (that´s why it costs so much prestige but it´s the end anyway

With this, the scenario is winnable in a way that you can even start a counter attack later. The soviets try to rush you always from one direction and never start one, big devastating assault. So you will always need careful regrouping when you recognize the actual attack direction, leave just minimal defense at the other bridgeheads. I strongly advise to use the Löwe units with Jagdtiger support, this is the only tool against the 5 stars IS-3 if they are on clean ground.
In any case, you have to protect the Tiergarten and the bunker.
Re: AO 1945 Problem in Berlin
Does it modify the ending summary in any way if you last to turn 50? I am guessing it probably does not as the player is not expected to "win", but I'm curious if it adds anything to the final text and don't want to look at the lua files for potential spoilers.

Thank you Truth80 - this sounds like a really helpful advicetruth80 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 5:14 am You need approx. 80k prestige for the scenario and the most important is to keep ammo in the pool. You can get ammo in the following ways:

I am shure I am not the only one who will get benefits from your advice.

Briefing and debriefing text can't be changed according to something in any way, they are built into the scenario file (.pz2brf), not in the lua.Tassadar wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 8:25 amDoes it modify the ending summary in any way if you last to turn 50? Re: AO 1945 Problem in Berlin
Thanks for the advice. By turn 2 of Berlin I was depressed and nearly quit. There was no way to last 50 turns starting with 29,00 prestige and 430 ammo. Then I read these posts. I ended up clearing everything South of the major river and kept enough hovering at the spawning areas to clean up the spawning units and their prestige/ammo. Ended the game by turn 45 by destroying all soviet units both North AND South of the river and not losing any of my experienced core units. I did have to cannibalize 90% of the auxiliary in slow stages and had to disband ALL of my core units that had little to no experience. Least I could do for Iva after retrieving her command vehicle
