Great game, remembers me of Pacific General

Post by dragos »

Being a fan of old SSI 5-Star Series, I enjoy OoB a lot, especially the supply system.

It remembers me of the old Pacific General (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1741 ... c_General/). While old, it still feature some mechanics that were not implemented in other games, such as:
- Night turns: during night, the attacks against bunkers and entrenched infantry were much more effective. Also landing on carriers at night could damage the planes.
- Critical hits against capital ships: a lucky hit that otherwise would only take 1 point of damage could sink the ship
- Damage of various systems, like steering damaged, flooding etc.

If some of these features were implemented in OoB, it would have been perfect.

Totally agree, night turns, and the ship damage especially. Loved Pacific General, still have the box on my retro shelves, plus all the other 5 star series:)

Cool, I love such retro games, I often play them as a break from my main job. I have a collection of consoles like Sega, N64 Consoles.
