Version 10, Boot Camp and US Pacific campaigns

Before I go any further...
I'm doing a run of Boot Camp/US Pacific and currently finished Fleet Command (3rd mission of the tutorial) still on the latest version 9.whatever.
Is the save file compatible with version 10 (edit) and/or have there been any changes to Boot Camp/US Pacific that break it further forward?
Should I err towards extreme caution and NOT update to version 10 before I complete the campaign(s)?
