Hi,

I have just got a new computer and on trying to start FOG2 Medieval, I get the following error message:

It looks like you are trying to run the Steam version. Is the Steam client running?

If so, then check the OPTIONS.TXT file in Documents/My Games/FieldOfGloryMedieval. The REZX and REZY values should match your screen resolution.

Cheers

Hi Pip,

Yes the Steam Client is running.

I have accessed my documents but the OPTIONS.TXT file seems to be missing. Would you have any idea as to where it might be alternatively found?

Does the Documents/My Games/FieldOfGloryMedieval folder exist at all?

Yes it does.

There is a file called Launcher with the launchersettings.config file and the log. And a SAVES file.

That's very odd. Can you post your system specs (you could use the DXDiag notes as stickied at the top of this forum, we only need the first couple of pages, down to the sound drivers). Also you could try creating an options.txt file in that folder, and entering the following text into it.

RezX 1920
RezY 1080
Sound 0
Fullscreen 0

Save the file, and then try starting the game again.

Cheers

I am guessing that if the game was unable to automatically create an Options.txt file, it would be because the antivirus is preventing the game from writing to the Documents/My Games/FieldOfGloryMedieval folder

It probably needs explicit permission (in antivirus settings) to do so.
