keksoid - Thessallian 404-352 w/ Greek 460 allies defeated heidipie - Egypt 1200 BC with a score 60% - 53%. A wild battle with a lot of uncertainty and a bit of luck, of course. Thanks for the game!

Re: Littl Wars IV - Results
Karvon - Huns (Western) 376 AD w German Horse Tribe allies defeated Najanaja - Thracian (Triballi) 350 BC-46 AD 40-13.
We were not particularly pleased to find the Thracians in wooded hills. A pair of hills ran across their side of the center and left. A series of woods further masked their right behind the hills. More woods and rough were scattered around their left sector. A couple of woods fell along the right edge, with more rough patches in the right center sector. A chain of gentle hills ran across our rear, and some woods masked the left and right corners.
Fully expecting to have to root them out of the woods, we brought a contingent of light foot and cut back a bit on our horse archers and lancers. We hid our lights in some woods along the left and deployed our four mounted commands across the center, awaiting the sighting of the Thracians to determine our approach.
We did not initially see much of the Thracians, no surprise there; a few lights screening in the center and a warband or two visible on the central hill, with their right flank covered by the woods below.
We sent our light horse forward to scout out their positions on both flanks. We found more lights and medium foot hidden in the woods behind and to the left of the central hill below their warbands. We got a little careless in our scouting, leaving a flank open, and a hidden light foot chased one of our scouts off the board.
The Thracians pushed several more warbands up on to the central hill, forming a refused line along its crest. Some of his light sortied out of the woods on his right to harass my scouting light horse.
We dispatched one mixed mounted command to deal with the skirmishers bothering our light horse. These dispatched a few and drove the others back into the woods. We did lose another light horse which got isolated and surrounded behind the woods. This cat and mouse game continued for a while.
Meanwhile, the bulk of our horse shifted around to the Thracian left and trotted up to effective bow range. Most of our light foot also joined this effort. We shredded up and dispatched several of his warbands and then pursued the routers till they were dispersed or chased off the field.
We shifted some of our victorious horse from the center to the left and that proved decisive in chasing down a few more of the Thracian lights, giving us the final victory.

Here are the current standing with a little over 3 weeks to play. A number of players in regular are finished, but we've got quite a few mirror games unreported yet. Please don't put off starting matches till the last minute.

Re: Littl Wars IV - Results
Blagrot - Byzantine 551-578 AD beat angusosborne - Samnites with Gauls 59% - 34%
The byzantine horse was scattered by the samnites as the infantry scrapped in the centre, the horse were able to re-group faster however adn after wiping out the limited gallic horse rejoined the man battle to land a couple of critical charges. The final victory came from a rather anti-climatic rally instead of a killing blow. Thanks for the game.

Blagrot - Byzantine 551-578 AD beat heidipie - Egypt 1200 BC 54% - 0%
I'm not actually sure the Eygptians passed a cohesion test all game, the crumbling of their opening line left their archers exposed and nothing stayed in combat long enough for them to bring their numbers to the flanks. Thanks for the game and I hope the sacrifices to the gods work better next time!

Here are the current standing with about a week to go. We have just a couple games left to report for ancients, but a lot of medieval games are still not reported. While these small games do play fast, I'm not sure some of you medieval players are going to finish on time

Ancients
Blagrot's Byzantine army defeated
SawyerK's Thracian Roman client army by
61 to 55.
The Byzantines jumped to an early lead using arrow power and it appeared that they would rush ahead and win using the 25 point difference rule only to have the Thracian's claw their way back into the game when they finally broke several Horse Archers. In the end, the Byzantine Lancers proved to be too much to overcome for the Thracian cavalry and their army went down to bitter defeat.

Re: Littl Wars IV - Results
Ancients still has one game unreported.
Unfortunately, Medieval has a whooping 16 unreported matches.
I'm going to extend the deadline 1 week to July 7 and any unfinished matches will be judged on a case by case basis after that.
