army list generator for competitions
I have the Army list generator beta 8b, which looks like the latest version (althouigh going back a few years).
The problem is that I cannot sort the 'order of march' into the sequence I want. Hovering over the order of march tab I get 'Paul Freeman: It is not necessary to enter order of march until list is finished'
Ok, so I finish the list but it remains the same and cannot be changed. The BG# column also cannot be sorted.
Does anyone know how this issue can be resolved. Perhaps my excel skills are lacking?
Perhaps there is a new army list generator which I have failed to find on the web?

Beta 8b is the last/latest version.
No your Excel skills are not lacking, but I must confess a "sort function" would be helpful!
As far as I know, there is no ability to order the columns for Order of March or BG#.
There are two ways you can do this manually:-
1/ Finish your Army build in any order you want, and you can manually assign the BGs any number sequence you want but they stay in that row; then manually assign the Order of March number; This means you BG and OfM numbering can be all over the place and makes it difficult to work out the groupings;
2/ I do it by building the list (as above) until I have my points total etc; then I copy and paste the rows around in the sheet until I have them in OfM (and the BG numbers just then can align) and then it is easier to work out the deployment groups.
Others may have other systems, but I do 2/. above.

Re: army list generator for competitions
Thanks David, and the generator 8b is the latest one with the new points values for V.2?
Re: army list generator for competitions
This is the system I use:
1) Create the list of units in any order you want; to make it easier for a list checker I usually do this in the order they appear in the army lists books. NOTE: ensure that ALL lines of a unit have the same number. e.g. Pike & Shot with Regt Gun will need the same number 3 times.
2) Referring to the "Deployment" tab I allocate the OOM numbers in the LH column. Again, ensure that ALL lines of a unit have the same OOM number.
3) Highlight the contents of all columns from OOM to BG Type inclusive, then Sort & Filter from lowest to highest. The LH OOM column will be the dominant filter.
If someone can tell me how to attach a list on this forum I will supply an example.
Hope this helps

I thought it would work and it did in terms of sorting the OOM, but the points values went to N#A so not a solution unless I did something wrong?

Yes, I just highlighted 'order of march', BG#, Troop name and Type. 4 columns
Re: army list generator for competitions
Ray - after a few attempts following your instructions, I did get the filter option to work and was able to re-sort for OOM!

Re: army list generator for competitions
So is the highlighting of the 4 columns upto and including the 'type' column correct? Just wondering why Ray says 'LH' column when all battle group types are in that column? Should the 'BG#' column be left free of numbers and hence why it didn't work for me?
Re: army list generator for competitions
I highlight every column from order of March right across to number of bases before sorting. It usually works.
