Future?
Future?
After so long I was wondering if there are any more updates on the way.
Also whether it is worth it for users to continue suggesting changes to the lists based on scientific studies or we can simply consider the official game closed.
Finally. I've asked this more times but I'd love to know if the developers have a new FOG project underway or similar.
I'm not asking about the theme or era, just if you ARE WORKING ON A NEW GAME.

Re: Future?
There is a new game on the drawing board, but no info has been released yet on what it will cover aside from the fact it will not be Napoleonic due to scale issues, which also probably rules out later large scales such as American Civil War.\
I think we can expect continued support of FOG2 via updates to fix issues, introduce minor tweaks not requiring any massive amount of time/money, and maybe some adjustments to existing lists or new ones utilizing current models.
Regards,
Karvon

Re: Future?
Please let the new game be an remake (different engine?) of Pike and Shot: Campaigns.

Re: Future?
Unless there's a FoG III otherwise I think it's worthy(I'm preparing for several such topics btw), the game will not be closed if there's not a FoG III in town.
Re: Future?
I'm glad to know there's something on the way.
To speculate a little...
I seem to remember that it was said that PyS II was ruled out. I think that's what most people want. I imagine it is due to the difficulties of the current graphics engine. A PyS II with the graphics of FOG II makes no sense. Let's hope that if that is the reason, one day there will be enough investment.
If we discard Napoleon for similar reasons we are left with only East Asia. I'm sure it will be fine but if it is only limited to the ancient and medieval period I think it will fall short. Hopefully it also includes the Modern age.

Horse & Musket period. 17th/18th century is my educated guess.

Re: Future?
Not likely, FoG:R tabletop rules end at 1698/1700 AD, and the Napoleonic rules were not written by Mr.Richard, there' are no tabletop rules for the 18th century, The next game will either be the FoG II: Renaissance(which covers the 17th century in its rules)or the Oriental 2500 BC-1500 AD.SimonLancaster wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 3:36 pm Horse & Musket period. 17th/18th century is my educated guess.

Re: Future?
Actually I have already played it quite much and still playing with my friends, I also have been suggested something for it like infantry will no longer cause cohesion drop when doing flank and rear charge on cavalry.tyronec wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 5:56 amAlready happening for Renaissance period, see this mod https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=116259Hope it will be the oriental, can't wait to play the west versus the east.

Re: Future?
Taking just 17th century we get the English Civil War which would be fun.Dux Limitis wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 5:45 pmNot likely, FoG:R tabletop rules end at 1698/1700 AD, and the Napoleonic rules were not written by Mr.Richard, there' are no tabletop rules for the 18th century, The next game will either be the FoG II: Renaissance(which covers the 17th century in its rules)or the Oriental 2500 BC-1500 AD.SimonLancaster wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 3:36 pm Horse & Musket period. 17th/18th century is my educated guess.

This is already the case in version 1.1, with the exception of keilsDux Limitis wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 10:01 am like infantry will no longer cause cohesion drop when doing flank and rear charge on cavalry.

Yeah I know, we made a discussion about that, I have already updated it to 1.1 not long ago.SnuggleBunnies wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 1:24 pmThis is already the case in version 1.1, with the exception of keilsDux Limitis wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 10:01 am like infantry will no longer cause cohesion drop when doing flank and rear charge on cavalry.
Re: Future?
I'd love to see FoG2 expanded to the East and other so far unvisited areas for the entire duration. As far as I understand, such expansion is already ruled out because it would require too much assests for being an expansion. I think it could probably be done as a 3rd game though, itegrated with Ancients and Medieval in the same way as the two are currently integrated with each other.
I would like a new game in the style of FoG2 starting from the 16th century as well, but that would have to be made in a newer and more flexible engine to really make the more complex formations look nice and functional.
A Field of Glory style rules utilizing game set in a fictional setting could also be really interesting, whether that were based on some 3rd party IP (e.g. Tolkien, Song of Ice and Fire, Warhammer etc) or some original setting.

Re: Future?
There was indeed a fictional setting tabletop wargame called Hordes of the Things (HOTT) written by Mr.Richard in 1991, but I highly doubt it will ever be digitized.

It would be great.Karvon wrote: There is a new game on the drawing board
Re: Future?
A generic fantasy FoG, vaguely based on Dungeons and Dragons, wouldn´t be bad at all.
Re: Future?
Would love a Pike & Shot re-vamp.
Getting creative, I could even see an original gritty fantasy campaign (with Empires/Kingdoms economic and empire-building mechanics) being a winner (shifting to in-game battles, à la Total War-style, without requiring you to load a separate game).
Could be great fun using a pike and musket-based army to hold off massive orc hordes or small but elite elf armies of bow/swordsmen clashing with the newfangled humans.

Re: Future?
A far east DLC would be nice and maybe a mesoamerican DLC. Also perhaps a battle pack DLC? I would love some more epic battles.
Re: Future?
will play this until field of glory III comes
