This thread will be for reporting the WTC24 Round 3 match results

Results of all games in all Round 3 matches should be posted in this thread.

All the games that are to be played are listed in the tables below and in the challenge thread, there are seven match-ups each of four individual games, one game in each period. This is a total of 28 games but only one game per player.

The winner should post, or in the event of a draw, the player with the lowest % damage received. If both players received same damage either player can post.

Please post using the Round 1 Match-up number 1 to 7, from the tables below, the period number and each of the players final % loss (highest damage then lowest damage) as shown in the top left of the match (game) screen on the final turn.

Rafydedel (Mycenaean) defeats zmd (Hittite) 62-45

The Hittite light and chariot shooters proved immediately superior, leading the Mycenaean to push them and getting to contact quickly with heavy Chariot. These ones were succesful with their impact, and we were off for a pretty bad start.

After going down as low as 21 points behind the Hittite on turn 10, Mycenaean slow but grinding fights started to get some result, and once a few heavy chariots or Gasgan warriors were out of the way, they could overrun my opponent left wing and then its center.

Thanks to zmd for this near-death experience

I had been defeating Ander's larger chariot wing and had a few advantageous combats but a minor collapse in Ander's centre, where he lost 4 units due to failing tests, gave me a 15 point lead and the advantageous combtas I had, turned into
gaining the victory

Ander's was unlucky to have lost so soon.

angusosborne (Berber) defeats gfs26 (Crusader) 67-50

A wild battle on a narrow desert battlefield with a stream running across the middle. I had more skirmishers on my right and quickly inflicted some losses while our infantry engaged enthusiastically in the middle. The matchups went largely my way and I thought it looked like I would break the enemy, but the Crusader's military order men-at-arms had other ideas. They broke through on my right and initially pursued into advantageous positions, but in the second wave most charged off into the rear, while an almughavar unit managed to hold out against the Varangian Guard to the front and Templar men-at-arms on the flank long enough for us to break almost everyone else.

A battle with a lot of panic, and at the same time a lot of stubborn defence.

Herd of Kiwis vs Condottieri Italia: Period 2

oscarius (Spartan) beats Conteshard (Roman) 40 - 8

The two armies met with my opponent possessing a slight advantage on a gentle set of hills to anchor his battleline on. An early meeting between our cavalry on the left flank went my way as my cavalry had infantry support. Meanwhile on the right an ambush attempt by the enemy backfired as his legionary unit found itself caught on bad terrain and got chewed up by my thureophoroi. The enemy had a lot of light horse here but they never succeeded in being more than a nuisance.

With my flanks secure I could push onto the assault of the enemy's main battleline, relying mostly on my greater infantry numbers and broad battleline. Surviving impact from uphill legionaries is no easy feat but the pikes held out for long enough (despite enduring some attrition from the enemy's Cretan archers) for my more mobile units to encircle the hill.

A fun match where I had more than a little luck. Well-played!

Jtrillodmp (Aragonese) defeats Carpenkm (Aragonese) 43-13

The Aragonese civil war was decided on the top of a hill where the two armies clashed. Almogavars and heavy infantry fought until Jtrillodmp's right wing broke through the enemy lines and everything began to fall apart. The last successful charge of Carpenkm's cavalry failed to change the outcome.
