Thirty Years War Bohemia

Greetings;

It is the 8th of November 1620. Following the Defenestration of Prague the Bohemian Protestants have revolted and raised an army. The two armies are about to meet on the low plateau locally called the White Mountain.

If you are an anti-Imperialist you are Heinrich Matthias von Thurn leading the Bohemian Revolt 1618 - 19 army and if you are an Imperialist Charles Bonaventure de Longueval the Count of Bucquoy in charge of an army of German Catholics 1618.

The Rebels set up the battle as a skirmish using large armies, open battle, in Agricultural terrain, the password to be 1618.

There seems to be some confusion about setting up the battles. You click on "create skirmish" then select "30 years war" then set up the options

We have a 15th player who most of you already know Ciberpencho.

I was hoping we would get a 16th person who would play him but no one has materialised.

So for the first round I am playing him with him being the treacherous Bohemians. Hopefully by the end of the first round someone will have appeared, or less fortunately one person will have dropped out. Alternately I'll ask for a volunteer to play 2 games in the next round.

Result for Round 1 Bohemian Revolt

Bohemia is once again committed to the Pope and the True Faith !

KiwiWarlord's 19,000 strong German Catholic Army (10%) is Victorious against Ironclad's 23,000 Bohemian Protestants (43%)

The large forest in the centre played a big part in the deployment of the armies, the Catholics had some luck here deploying more and attacking on one side whilst skirmishing on the other.

A well deserved victory which sadly leaves the noble Anti-imperialist cause at an initial disadvantage. But hopefully my colleague commanders can remedy this in their own battles.

The Imperials are once again victorious with my defeat of Doyley50 by 36% to 62%.

My swarm of light foot cleared the forest on my left. My swarm of light horse significantly weakened his numerically superior left wing so our mounted cancelled each other out and my solid tercios destroyed his smaller and lower quality heavy foot.

In round 2 there will be a new Imperial taking up the vacant 8th spot, namely the extremely cunning and efficient Changdao

History is being repeated in Bohemia.

Peter the Painter (Imperials) 17% routed Dilly (Bohemians) 44% routed.

My opponent sensibly set up with his flanks anchored in two forests filled with lights and arquebusiers and his centre held by Tercios. Unfortunately for the Bohemians the Imperial Tercios just marched through the centre swatting the apparently equal Bohemian Tercios aside.

Some nice light cavalry work by my opponent, getting behind my left flank, didn't generate the reward it deserved as the heavyweight clash in the centre dominated the battle. Well played Dilly.

In the contest of faith,

markleslie Imperialists defeats AKVGroeben Anti-Imperialists 36-60.

With almost no terrain it became a swirling knife fight for the foot in the centre with most of the mounted scattered about the periphery.



Midway(ish) through the battle just as what order there was went out the window completely.

Imperial forces attacked the entrenched rebels through a mountain pass located in the middle of the beautiful Bohemian plain. Their cavalry completely surrounded the rebels, but in the meantime the experienced Bohemian Tercios (they were definitely mercenaries) smashed the Imperial infantry.
New hope dawned, for the warriors and a better cause and a New World Order!

The Imperials win the first round of the tournament by 5 games to 3.

The decision to concede causes a problem with the individual rankings as they are based on the points you start the round with minus your loses in the battle. So if players agree that one will concede immediately then both would lose 0 points for the round. So I have decided the person who concedes will lose 30 points in addition to his loses, his opponents 10 points in addition to his loses. In the case of a draw both will lose 20 points in addition to their loses.
