Quick questions: Mountain troops

Alpine movement = superior in mountains and hills.

Does a transport negate alpine movement trait? (As it did in PzC1?)

If so, is there a way to transport via half-track and then disband the half-track?

I have found these units tend to be terrible for mobile warfare because it takes them ten years to get from one area to another, especially when/if the mountain terrain is spread out. (I think in the Persia GC45 scenario I had to airlift them to even get them involved with the end reaches of the map! lol.)

Transports have their own movement class that is factored into how exactly a unit can move. If a unit can move farther then the transport can then you have the option to move that distance and the transport is automatically removed and refunded in prestige. In game this it the truck with a red crossout sign on it. It does not incur any negative penalty otherwise.
As such it's generally best to put them in trucks and use them as needed as you get the prestige back automatically. The only downside is they won't have trucks for the remainder of the scenario.

Same! I always used mountain troops without transports, as I thought buying truck for them each time after would be a tedious prestige sink. For the same reason I often did not move other units into terrain that would disband the transport. This puts the whole thing into a new perspective, especially for difficult sieges of some final elite objectives and quickly encircling them.
