Field of Glory II

Hi all,
I've been playing Field of Glory II - Medieval for some time without problems, but I've recently tried to play the original Field of Glory II and keep getting a script error when loading any battle. It seems to be saying that it encounters an unexpected character. I've tried reinstalling it, but same thing.

Any ideas please?

The error you report occurs because you have old versions of some of the game files.

The updaters are only intended to update the game correctly from the last full build (currently v1.6.6), not from its first publication. And in particular not from the CDROM version.

This means that if the version you had installed was earlier than v1.6.6 you will need to uninstall the game and run the v1.6.6 installer before running the v1.6.15 updater. If you already ran the v1.6.15 updater on top of a version prior to 1.6.6 (Feb 16, 2023) your game may show v1.6.15 but not be a correct full build. (The updater is supposed to check for this and prevent it, but it has happened in the past.)

If in doubt, uninstall the game and run the v1.6.6 installer followed by the v1.6.15 updater.

If the version you have is v1.6.6 or later, but less than v1.6.15, you just need to run the updater.
