Sengoku Jidai Invitation tournament
Sengoku Jidai Invitation tournament
This thread is to determine interest in a unusual format for a Sengoku Jidai Tournament. It is a novel approach based on the boardgame Snakes and Ladders and was originally designed to be used for tabletop games.
Please post your interest in trialing this system starting in early to mid April.

I've got Seven Samurai and RAN on DVD, does that get me a guernsey?
Re: Sengoku Jidai Invitation tournament
Mark, You've successfully gained recognition for remakes of old 1954 samurai action movies (have you tried 47 Ronin, the 2013 film) but you still need Sengoku Jidai, the game I'm afraid.markleslie wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 6:36 am I've got Seven Samurai and RAN on DVD, does that get me a guernsey?

Please also note your preference for a team event, or individual play.

The 2013 47 Ronin is an aquired taste, not for me but hey I like salt and vinegar on my fish & chips and your entirely free to choose who and what you love.
I do have the game it's just a little dusty and underloved.
Individual play for me, much like any ambitious Sengoku daimyo who values his salt I have no friends.

Japan means team play! Watashi wa teamplay!
Re: Sengoku Jidai Invitation tournament
It looks like this idea is not a popular one, or there's too many FOG2 tournaments at the moment, or Sengoku Jidai players are now using the FOG2 Medieval mod.

This is just a friendly SJ get together to try a very novel campaign system found by and to be run by Gavin.
There is no time pressure at all and you just need a little knowledge on Snakes & Ladders, which you would have had since you were about 4 years of age.
Let's get it started.

If Mark, Alan and yourself are still keen, we can still test it with four players Brian. Everyone still interested to start? I know HOML8 is timed to start mid-April as well, but I think we don't need to conform to any strict deadlines.KiwiWarlord wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 7:45 pm This is just a friendly SJ get together to try a very novel campaign system found by and to be run by Gavin.

More of a POW boy myself than Snakes and Ladders, nevertheless I'm quite happy to playtest it if people are willing.

Re: Sengoku Jidai Invitation tournament
We'll delay the start until after the HOML8 tournament ends. I'll pm you when it ends to see if you're still interested or prefer a straight round robin style.

Gavin, I am still happy to take part.
Re: Sengoku Jidai Invitation tournament
Great, we'll hopefully start on the 1st June. Games from HOML8 should be almost finished by then.

Re: Sengoku Jidai Invitation tournament
hey, I've got a couple of hundred hours on sengoku but im new to the forums.
are you looking for anymore players for this campaign? Im a new father, do a lot of tabletop gaming but now I have a baby, I have turned to PBEM. (I can play during office hours so dont worry about me taking my turn in time.)
If you already have too many people however I understand. Just sounds like an interesting little campaign to be a part of

You are a most welcome addition. We're a little behind schedule but we'll aim to get the players sorted this month and I'll pm you with a start date at the start of June.
