gribol, you should specify from which of your provinces the attack is launched and if you opt for an Open Battle or an Encounter Battle.
At his turn Nigel will have to specify if he opts for a Defensive Battle, instead.
A winner gains one or two morale points depending on the level of the victory. Does the loser lose the same number of points? I cannot see anywhere that you lose morale points
1. Taxation - which we are confident will be met with approval by our loyal subjects in view of the need for war preparations.
2. We launch a Major Attack on Gelderland from Wallonia thus demonstrating our justified contempt for those rascals daring to invade the hallowed borders of eternal France. Our brave defenders of Wallonia shun protective emplacements and will meet the miscreants in Open Battle.

As stated in the rules the winner gains 1 moral point after a tactical victory and 2 moral points after a strategic victory.
The looser, instead, looses only 1 morale point after a strategic defeat.
In order to avoid any doubt I also want to clarify that fortifications have the effect to transform a strategic defeat in a tactical one, and a tactical defeat in a marginal one in the sense that instead of loosing the entire province the looser maintain the control of half of it or, otherwise, instead of loosing half of it the looser maintain the complete control of it. But fortifications don't affect the attribution of morale points that will be awarded on the basis of the real outcome of the battle.
Gentlemen,
reviewing the rules, which we are using for the first time in this campaign, and observing the players’ moves, I have realized that, unfortunately, the rule concerning Taxation produces unbalanced and excessive effects. In terms of the final score, it effectively grants 40 points, which is equivalent to controlling half a province—an achievement normally obtained through a tactical victory, which itself requires at least 20,000 Thalers to launch a standard attack, that, in turn, means loosing other 20 VP.
That being said, and considering that this situation would push all players to make this move every turn, removing unpredictability from the game and shifting the focus to a purely monetary aspect rather than a strategic-military one, I propose modifying the rule so that 1 VP is awarded for every 5,000 Thalers.
Since this should not impact the current situation, given that each player has performed a Taxation action, I will consider the modification approved in the absence of objections, apologizing in advance for the improper formulation of the rule.
Thanks. Can I just confirm this change only relates to the Campaign Conclusion section where the list of VPs included I VP for every 1000 Thalers in the Treasury which is now changed to 1 VP for every 5000 Thalers?

I have launched a Major attack into Silesia, my opponent has opted for a defensive battle. I can't set it up for 1675 points, it must be in multiples of 100 so have set it up for 1700. We will expect extra beer and sausages when we occupy Breslau.
Gribol commanding British-Hanowerian alied forces, win over the French commanded by Ironclad with the losses 9:55
In assault on Walonia (major attack).
We are waiting for counterbattle in Gelderland.

Bavaria stands appalled and strongly protests this breaking of the peace!
Someone wake up the Pope!
While the Austrian and Danish armies are slowly moving toward each other on the fields of Mecklemburg and Silesia, the Pope, after a meeting in the Vatican gardens with the Austrian ambassador, declared that he's well awake and aware of the the hateful plots of the enemy of the very pious Habsburg Crown and that the Holy See strongly supporto the Austrian territorial claims on the provinces of Mecklemburg, Bavaria, Baden and Hannover as rightful part of the Holy Roman Empire.
AD 1740 - SILESIA - Defensive Battle
Danish tactical victory
Danish - Austrians 20% - 49%
Even though the outclassed Austrian army searched to stop the enemy army advance preparing a line of defensive outwork, the danish commander shrewdly decided to avoid it forcing the habsburg forces to spring forward in order to block the planned flanking movement. A deadly encounter ensued, mostly fought in the middle of vast woods facing the center and the left of the austrian position, which ended with the danish forces prevailing thanks to major numbers and skilfull maneuvering.
So the destiny of the province lies in the outcome of the other battle fought on the plains of Mecklemburg.
AD 1740 - MECKLEMBURG - Open Battle
Austrian tactical victory
Austrians - Danish 24% - 51%
The numerically superior austrian army slowly marched through the battlefield in order to reach the opposite army, encamped just at the far end of the map (presumably to avoid any risk of envelopment), in the process pounding the enemy with medium and heavy artillery fire.
At first the danish forces reacted fiercely when the two armies finally begun exchanging musket fire and were able to obtain local successes so that, until the last two turns, it seemed it would be a very close affair, with the victory hanging in the balance, but then, quite unexpectedly, they collapsed, particularly on their right flank, under the pressure of the austrian cavalry.
This hard fought victory permitted the austrian to rescue the province of Silesia from being conquered by the enemy as the final outcome of the two mutual attacks was an overall draw.
