angusosborne (Nubian) defeats Karvon (Parthian) 41-0
I played a fairly patient game working hard on not letting the Parthians around our flanks, and those light horse that tried were chased off the map. Our shooting was better, and their morale was shaky. Losses infilcted entirely on horse archers

jaerho (Welsh 600-1049 AD with Anglo-Saxon 600-870 AD allies) defeats CURRY (Indo-Greek 175 BC-10 AD with Saka 300 BC - 50 AD allies) 51-23.
Welsh medium and light foot staked out a strong position on a rough central hill while a separate Anglo-Saxon cavalry and shield wall force came in from the right. The two armies on managed to avoid the Indo-Greek Pike. A timely charge from the hill broke and scattered the Indian archers while the British cavalry won on the flanks. Good match.

angusosborne (Nubian) defeats Chris Townsend (Palmyran) 42-13
We had a very cluttered battlefield, but a large area of open ground on the Palmyran right, where I brought overwhelming force to defeat the Palmyran mounted troops. On the other side was an attritional exchange of arrow fire where I suffered all my losses, but perhaps had slightly the better of it.

jaerho (Welsh 600-1049 AD with Anglo-Saxon 600-870 AD allies) draws against Karvon (Parthians 250 BC-225 AD with Arab 312 BC - 299 AD allies) 43-40
Hard to imagine two more different armies. The Parthians and Arabs showed up with a small horde of unarmored horse archers while the Welsh brought some light foot, a small shield wall and just a three units of nobles on horseback. The Welsh army holed up in a central clump of trees while the horse archers encircled the position. The Welsh broke out with a charge against the Parthian right flank scattering the cavalry. From that point on it became a battle of the Parthians targeting a unit and then scattering after being charged by Welsh horse or infantry. Both armies managed to isolate and route several units, but neither side managed a decisive advantage. At the end of the battle, the Welsh infantry remained largely intact, but the Parthian Horse Archers were all but impossible for them to catch.
Thanks for the challenging battle!

SawyerK with the Roman 219-200 BC army and Numidian ally
defeated
jaerho and his Welsh 600-1049 AD army with Anglo-Saxon ally
by 43-11.
Both armies started in the center of the map, but the Welsh forces soon maneuvered right to strike the Roman flank. The Roman forces stayed static for several turns before suddenly moving out to engage their opponent. They managed to catch the Welsh in mid-move and gained the advantage, which they then pressed to victory.

The Welsh found themselves on very favorable terrain with a massive rough hill in center of the battlefield. While the noble cavalry successfully delayed and distracted the the Palmyran cataphracts, the Brythonic Foot leveraged their slight advantage in numbers and weapons to destroy the Arab irregular foot. Credit goes largely to dragging a desert army to the Cambrian Mountains for a fight. Thanks for the game!

angusosborne (Nubian) defeats Indibil (Byzantine) 40-7
I took this army because I thought it would be good against mounted (and it's fun). Other battles have demonstrated that it's pretty bad against majority infantry armies. This battle went showed me right I think. Deploy wide - archers disrupt, spearmen protect them, cavalry and camels get flank attacks.
Thank you Carles

principesromanes (Ghaznavid 962-1187 AD with Turkish 600-1036 AD allies) defeats SawyerK (Roman 219-200 BC with Numidian or Moorish 341-56 BC allies) 46-5
The armies met along a road running adjacent to the river through some hills and forested country. Not ideal cavalry country, but that may be why the Romans chose the spot for battle,
The Romans relied heavily on their Numidian allies, seemingly bringing any one who could throw a stone or hurl a javelin. This was hardly a problem for the Ghaznavids, who were themselves bristling with arrows. The expected firefight occurred, with the Roman lights getting the worse of the initial exchange. The Romans did, however, catch the unit of naffatum, saving their sturdy and well protected legions the risk of the cohesion malus from being shot at with bombs. The Ghaznavid lights were able to position themselves to pick off almost all the Roman lights, which was almost the battle. The legions never clashed with the token Ghaznavid “infantry” line aka one Dailami, a few elephants and some lancers but a few allied Roman medium infantry were caught and picked off.
Overall, a very strange battle. Roman legions just can’t do much against horse archers.

angusosborne (Nubian) defeats SawyerK (Roman) 50-24
We had a narrow battlefield with some mountains on the Roman side. They declined to contest the central terrain so we marched to their rear, sweeping through a wood on my right and decisively winning the skirmish.
When the main battle lines joined we had an overlap and the Romans contained on the inside of an L shape, but their superior quality showed. We were somewhat lucky to win, with dubious morale across our army at the games end. Thank you!

Chris Townsend's Palmyran's defeated rockmanbob123's Samaritans 41 to 15.
The Samaritan all cavalry force occupied the hilly ground in an otherwise mostly open terrain. The Samaritan lancers responded to the taunts of the Palmyran infantry, and charged down, doubling up on two of my irregulars. One quickly disintegrated and the lancers ran off in pursuit, thinking the battle won. But the other infantry survived, helped initially by a leader and a counter attack by Romans, and then by a flanking charge of the single Palmyran heavy cavalry, which had somehow made a 45 degree turn to prepare in advance! The remaining Palmyran infantry and bow provided a screen from reinforcements, and the charging lancers eventually routed, leading to the overall collapse.
A good game that essentially hinged on one 45 degree turn!

SawyerK with the Roman 219-200 BC army and Numidian ally
defeated
rockmanbob123 and his Samaritan 25-375 AD army with Germanic Foot Tribe ally
by 48-18.
The Romans were aided in their victory when a Samaritan Lancer General followed a routed Javelin Horse off the map, and was never seen again. In a key point in the battle, the Roman elephant pinned a Superior Warband long enough to allow a Hastate unit to shatter the warband with a flank attack. Those factors gave the Romans the advantage, but the conflict came to an unexpected ending when a routed Legionnaire unit suddenly returned to Fragmented status. Lady Fortune smiled on the Romans in this one, and they were glad to have the help.

A battle of lancers and horse archers versus Welsh foot and lights with limited cavalry support. The Lancers focused on the cavalry and lights, which gave the infantry time to turn and shorten the battlefield. The infantry managed to survive charges from the mounted and dismounted lancers and then isolated and flanked them. Good game!

Terrified by the Arab troops, the Welsh infantry beelined for steep hill while the cavalry demonstrated against the Arab right flank. The infantry fight was brutal, with the Arabs overcoming the terrain to win the initial engagement. The welsh were close to breaking until the remnant of the the Welsh cavalry made it back in time to even things out. It could have gone either way, but the massed archers broke before the wavering Brythonic foot.
