FoG R scale popularity?

How strong is the interest in FoG R where you are?

What scale is most likely to dominate FoG R where you are - 25mm, 15mm or 10mm?

Here down in South Somerset we play both 15mm, mainly club nights, and 28mm for the bigger weekend games. We have been playing Father Tilly in 28mm and "Martins" FOG rules. Now FOG (R) is out we will be using that, with our TYW campaign now in full swing!

With 28mm a 12 x 6/ 10 x 6 table is good, whereas we can use the 6 x 4 club tables for 15mm. I suspect that for competition games 15mm will be the norm.

What it boils down to is the available armies. My 28mm stuff was all based for Hussaria many moons ago, 40mm square for 4 Inf and 40 x 50 for 2 Cav. As long as the opposing armies are based the same it is not a problem, but the 15mm stuff is based as per FOG (R)

28mm here...newly painted Warlords stuff...but a lot of older stuff is 20mm or 15mm

Looks like the guys in New England will be predominately 15mm. Possibly a 28mm army or two.

I am planning to make my next army a FoG:R army. I will do 15mm for sure. 15mm is significantly better for traveling and I just like the look of the figures better on the table.

I am getting older and the eyes aint what they used to be so its 28mm Warlords for me. I had a fairly sizable 20mm plastic DBR army, but they will be staying in the box. I am not all that anxious to go back to the smaller stuff again any time soon.

I am going with 15mm, mainly for money reasons.

Even plastics in 28mm can cost a bit.

I am being my own usual decisive self and compromising by doing both scales albeit with different armies. Well sometimes anyway!!

This seems to be shaping up as a consensus for 15mm in the States.

I was getting kind of excited at the thought of the Old Glory 25mm Huguenots. Oh well.

Several of us in the Gulf Coast area are building 10mm armies mounted on 15mm bases. 7 figures for heavy foot/pike, 5 figures for medium foot, 5 figures for cavalry, 3 for light horse/light foot types.

Pendraken figures paint up pretty quickly, too.

Chris the Tall was making headway on persuading me about this. A straight up Imperial army could tempt me. To my surprise there were a lot of decent 10mm Cossacks.

28mm, it will be here in northern Germany. At least for me and my friend. The Italian wars will start soon.

Getting decent 6*3cm plastic bases is currently the greatest problem. A shame that Renedra missed this particular size with their bases.

The Chicago guys that do the HMGS tournaments are all 25s all the time. I suspect there will be a 25mm FOGR event at Little Wars in Chicago in the spring.

If I remember correctly, all the DBR tournaments at Historicon were 25mm, so there may be a lot of legacy armies in that scale. Columbus will be all 25mm from what I hear.

I will be using 15mm for the Italian wars (as I already have the figures from FoG:AM and a DBR 15mm army I picked up on a bring and buy) but for ECW I think that I will be going with 6mm figures on 15mm bases, probably 24 pike to a base (three ranks of eight) and 16 or 24 shot (two or three ranks of eight).

If I make a 30YW army I will be torn between scales and all the rather lovely 28mm plastic ECW figures look rather tempting too.

6mm on 15mm bases. Ignore all other options Hammy, you know it makes sense.

Maybe north of the mason-dixon line will be 25mm and south 15mm? I don't want you to think that those of us up north are trying to make up for other inadequacies though!

Anyone thinking of 30YW should look at the Testudo figures, then make up their mind...

I have Swiss in 15 and 25, all the rest of my FoGR armies are 15mm.

Hammy I think I can do most of the armies for the Italian Wars other than Cordoba's (now THAT is a christmas pressie idea) in 15mm, so look forwards to seeing what yours end up looking like...

I can't wait to see you in an Italian Wars themed 15mm FoGR singles event...

Had a look but just thought I'll stick to Essex, now doing a new project Danish army of 1675 made up off figures from essex.
