Historicon 2011

Post by Antipater »

In consultation with the Tournament Director for FOG-AM, FOGR will have a three round Open on Friday July 8th. The times have not been finalized, but we have 800 points 15mm. Players may also use 650 points of 25mm and players may switch scales if agreeable with their opponents. If there are enough players to do so we will have a 1500-1590 bracket and a 1591-1650 bracket. Only armies from Trade and Treachery, Wars of Religion and Clash of Empires allowed without my prior approval. Two rounds of friendly match-ups with any armies in the above scales and points will be held on Thursday July 7th to help teach the rules, again times have not been set in stone so watch the PEL and check the brochure after check in. Players may not switch armies from round to round, except in cases when switching from 15 to 25mm scale. However, players may have a 2nd list and may switch to it between rounds (just don't write one up on the spot to fit your opponent!).

This is how we used to do things with DBR, the Renaissance would have an Open when the Fog (or before that DBM) would have a Theme and vice versa. Once these rules will be out for a while we will have Theme events at Cold Wars and Fall-In and a Team Event at Historicon. :D [/b]

Why not Colonies and Conquest? Dealers had them at Cold Wars. A 3 month lead should be fine.

Judicious application of carrot & stick should do the trick Andy.

Having finally got home I have my Polish winged Hussars ready to be painted, they might die, but they look bloody wonderful doing it !

Additional event on Thursday

Post by babyshark »

I will be running a FoG:R Open on Thursday, in addition to the Friday tournament and the Thursday teaching games. I am doing it so that I can have a chance to play FoG:R in addition to the FoG:AM events I am running. I know: I am a greedy bastard. The announcement from the Historicon PEL is below.

Thursday July 7

Field of Glory: Renaissance Open Tournament

Each player should bring a legal 800 point army from any published FoG:R army list book. First round pairings will be random. 15mm only.

Round 1: 10:00 – 1:30
Round 2: 2:30 – 6:00
Round 3: 7:00 – 10:30

Player with questions are encouraged to contact the GM, Marc Crotteau, at juvenileshark@yahoo.com.

Please note that Bob Nedwich will be running two FoG:R teaching games starting at 12:30 and 6:00.

My wife and a long time opponent/friend and his wife are playing with the idea of attending 2011's Historicon. There is plenty to do in the area AND the convention too. Gotta try to get there.

Not too likely I will have a 15mm army to push....BUT, my buddie and I can kibitz.

There are 25mm events, if that suits your fancy better. And you might be able to borrow a 15mm army. Don't give up too early!

A lot of people could bring a spare army for you to push, so if you are interested let us know, day, army preferences and we can round one up.

I'm sure some kind soul could hire out mercenary troops for your Swedes to use.

I believe 1 ducat per man was the going rate in the 1520s ?

Matt Iverson won i think both the Thursday and Friday FoG R event with Qing Chinese.

Turns out people people repeatedly walked into two BG of 8 bow with a regimental gun throwing 18 dice is generally not a fun day to receive if you are 6 base average pike and shot.

I missed him on thursday with my French Hugenots. But I did face a lot or Royalist firepower.

Yes, yes he did. Later German States got outshot, and my Venetians--well the less said about that list, the better.
