Ju87G sound
I'm not hearing any airplane sound when the Ju87G flies from one hex to another. So far it is only that one plane that flies silently.
Re: the editor
So what will happen if you hide all tiles layers? Will not you see roads and rivers again?JRW wrote:I understand the layers concept, but I still find that roads, rails, and rivers are deleted if I re-generate the map. Units stay as they were. I've tried this several times to make sure I'm getting that result and it always works the same. If I generate a map, add roads, etc., and then re-generate the map, everything comes back except the roads, rails, and rivers, which are gone forever. In the View menu they are all checked as visible, but they're not there anymore.
terrain features layer
This must be the solution. No, I did not use the terrain features layer because I couldn't figure out what it was for. It has 4 diagonal bars of different colors and widths, but no clue about what they do. I tried selecting one and clicking on the map, but nothing happened. How do I use them?uran21 wrote:Did you use Terrain features layer to place roads RR?
Re: the editor
They hide and reappear fine and they click on and off fine individually in the View menu, but if I regenerate the map they disappear forever.Rudankort wrote:So what will happen if you hide all tiles layers? Re: the editor
OK, so clearly you did not use Terrain features layer to set roads and rivers. You should use it. Good news is that it is MUCH easier to draw maps this way.JRW wrote:They hide and reappear fine and they click on and off fine individually in the View menu, but if I regenerate the map they disappear forever.
About how to use terrain features layer. Roads and rivers are directional features, which means it is not enough to say: road is here in this hex. You need to specify 2 hexes which are connected with a road. So, you click first one and second one (must be next to each other), and a road connection will appear. Now you can prolong the road further by clicking next hex where it should go etc.
Re: the editor
The item "Terrain Features" in the Edit menu has four diagonal lines of different colors and widths. What do they represent and how do I use them in connection with anything else? I know how to use the roads, rivers, and rails icons to connect hexes, but is there something else that will keep them from disappearing when the map is regenerated? This is not exactly intuitive.Rudankort wrote:About how to use terrain features layer. Roads and rivers are directional features, which means it is not enough to say: road is here in this hex. Played Panzer Corps for a bit and I must say I am quite impressed.
It's great to see a classic brought back like this and the graphics are nice and crisp.
A few comments though:
It's been mentioned before but it would be really good to see when a unit has moved or fired not just if it has done both.
Also different color text when a unit is low/empty on ammo or fuel would be helpful.
I would like to see variations on unit i.e. you have a regular Wehrmacht Grenadier unit, then you have a SS Grenadier unit (more firepower and more morale), then you have a Luftwaffen Grenadier unit (less fire power) etc. (for Russian this would be Regular, Guard, Penal for Brits you could have Regular, Guard, ANZAC, Colonial).
Honestly before I read this board I did not know there was a Norway mission in the 1939 campaign, I would love to see a scenario tree for campaigns
There is a bug when playing as the allies, when I was playing as the Russians on Bagration despite holding every city on the map it would not count as a victory.
Also when I was playing as the Russian the stats for the infantry were rather odd, and FYI the ZiS-2 57mm was a more effective AT Gun than the ZiS-3 76mm.
I feel like level bombers should be effective against fortifications but maybe I'm mistaken about that.
Anyway I'm going to play some more, this game is very fun.

Thanks for the opportunity to participate. Been playing since the SSI and Avalon Hill days of wargaming and still have my trusty Amiga about ! Hunting for a game to play on my laptop, found this and was disappointed to find 'coming soon'. A pleasure to be part of this !
Downloaded twice as first corrupt, but installed fine. All good.
30secs
- Loads full screen, which I prefer. Having a widescreen laptop, good to see fills it.
- Doesn't allow option to minimise and causes problems with other screens.
- Colors neutral but appropriate. Don't detract or distract.
- Main menu picture excellent and makes you want to go to the next menu.
- Loaded up first tutorial and first thing that really stands out is the 3D landscape. Great guys. Pleasing to look at. Really gives you feel for terrain without been too overbearing. Having played games such Battles in Italy, where the terrain overshadows the units, this one a great mix of colors.
- Very Panzer General-like at first glance at units...but all good. I played them all and loved them. Couldn't wait to try this one out, so thanks again for Beta invite !
- I note circular display buttons for 'weather' and 'forecast' the floating text flickers, whereas for other actions below - eg. replacements - is steady display. A bug ?
5mins
- Scenario selection lists probably need work...shouldn't have to scroll off the bottom to select sides etc.
- Scenario introductions ?
- Took a bit to find system menu button and ones such as 'next unit' but given first look, once found, not forgotten.
- When clicking on a unit, info section for that unit not immediately clear...any way of perhaps making a bit more "out there" ?
- Scrolling and zoom very good. Smooth.
- Always good to turn hex grids off when in 3D terrain.
- Units reasonably close, color-wise, but flags in bottom corner of unit icons a good idea and make ID quick.
- Vehicle and aircraft rendering great. Well done guys ! Absolute delight scrolling around looking at units. That's all I did initially.
I have a lengthy daily commute to/from work, so will start playing next few days so as to complete rest of 15min and 1hr comments and give some feedback on gameplay.
Cheers,
Andrew
