I bet everyone has lost an air unit because he has not calculated correctly (or forgotten) the remaining fuel according to its distance from an airfield. It really hurts...
Ofcourse there are red dots to mark a "ring of death" in the particular air unit movement.
What about to create a second "ring" (eg yellow dots) to mark a territory that the unit will not have fuel to return on the next round?

If an aircraft runs out of fuel and is removed from scene......Does it show as removed from "core" unit inventory ? If answer is "yes", then it's a potential "gamey" trick.
ie: Use aircraft for initial attacks, then when you figure you've softened the foe, or your aerial assests are low, run them out of fuel and buy ground assets. (KAMAKIZI Cheat)
Just a possiblity ?

If the air unit was a core unit it will count as a loss for the core army, it would appear that you can not replace auxilary units like you could in PG.
I personally don't see a need for a second set of ring of death colours, if you see lots of red dots get to the nearest airfield or capture one thats close to you before its crash and burn time. The dots have saved many of my pilots from fuel death of earlier beta

By the way, so far there is a game message on end turn to notify the player that not all units have moved. Would it be much better if this message is modified to notify the player if an air unit that is not refueling has not moved?
Forgetting a ground unit does not cost the same as forgetting an air unit.

In my opinion, that's a player error and it's his responsibility to check for this kind of things. If he misses he naturally is punished. I see it has being part of the game.pstamatis wrote:By the way, so far there is a game message on end turn to notify the player that not all units have moved. I totally disagree on this thought. The game should punish bad strategy, not forgetting. The UI should assist the user on that!In my opinion, that's a player error and it's his responsibility to check for this kind of things. If he misses he naturally is punished. Besides, experienced players on PG like me have grown up a lot since 1994!
If you have the reminder option on that notifies you of unmoved units, then your unmoved aircraft are going to be part of that group. I don't think a separate "alarm" is really necessary. I don't even use it since I just tend to use the Next/Prev unit buttons at the end of my turn to make sure I didn't miss anything important. Also, when planes get low on fuel, there is a yellow low fuel indicator that's pretty hard to miss. This should be another clue that you should move your plane to an airport soon. I don't play with the tutorial messages on either, but I'm sure there is one for the first time a plane gets a yellow fuel indicator.
