Please name all units

Post by Talen »

I would like to request, for a future patch, that all units be named. There is no problem with the your own side, with the new patch, or with the enemy's 1939 starting units, but very soon you start fighting a lot of generic Corps and Fighter units, ect. This makes absolutely no difference in the play of the game but I would urge all game designers everywhere for all time, especially those making historically based games, to always name all units. A game's enjoyability is based not just on the concepts and mechanics of play, but also on certain aesthetic factors. It is just a lot more fun to kick the hell out of the I SS Panzer Corps than an enemy 'Armoured Corps', and it makes the game feel more like the period it represents.

Bear in mind that I have as much knowledge of computer game design and the difficulty or ease of implementation of anything I suggest, as the German officer corps of WWII had of honor or decency. But if this is not very difficult it would be a nice touch.

Thanks

It's a nice idea but the names were not part of the original system so are really hacked in! Next time around I think this will be a built in feature and Johan will be able to do this kind of thing.
