Field of Glory 2.0 - coming October 18th!

Post by IainMcNeil »

Hi guys,

the good news is the digital version of Field of Glory 2.0 rules are coming next Thursday the 18th October. We will be releasing it at Speil in Essen.

For more information you can look at the product pages but you probably know all there is to know already!
http://www.slitherine.com/games/fog20read_mac
http://www.slitherine.com/games/fog20read_pc
http://www.slitherine.com/games/fog20read_ipad

The version 2.0 digital Rule book will be releasing at $14.99/£10.49/€11.99.

We will also be releasing a digital version of Rise of Rome. This will be $9.99/£6.99/€7.99. This will include the errata for the print version and the amendments for Field of Glory 2.0 as specified in Appendix 9. Please note - we are talking about the digital books not the PC/Mac game (which is going to be early next year)!

We plan to update the rules and army books over time. We will try and keep these updates free for as long as possible but if we move to version 3.0 at some point we may need to charge for those kind of updates.

If you have been following the long and sorry saga you'll know the Print versions have been a complete nightmare. The layout for print and digital is completely different and nothing can be shared. We have a team working on it but we still don't know how long it will take to complete the layout, get print proofs, make adjustments and get final stock to the warehouses. Rather than hold back the digital release any longer we have decided to get this out there and follow as soon as possible with the print copies. We plan to release the print copies in November but when in November depends on how things pan out.

Thanks for you patience and support and we hope you enjoy version 2.0!

Maybe we'll even see some of you in Essen!

Just to amplify on Iain's post, these are the TT rules and lists being published as ebooks, not the PC/MAC digital game, and in November as a new hard copy edition. The changes in the V2 TT rules and lists won't initially be reflected in the upcoming updated version of the PC/MAC game.

Thankyou for the update. I think you are doing the right thing. The moment the V2 amendments were published V1 became part of history. Will it be possible to download onto a Kindle or only iPad, Mac & PC?

I'm trying to decide if I want to purchase the PC version, or the iPad version, or wait until the print on demand version is released. Do we know if the PC version is printable or not?

There is no way to print the PC/Mac/iPad version - that's why its taking us many weeks to go from a digital version to a printable one. The formats are completely different.

One update on the original post which I got wrong.

The digital version of Rise of Rome is slightly different top the current print version as it it includes :
1) The errata for the print version.
2) The V2 list amendments (applicable to Rise of Rome) as specified in Appendix 9 of Version 2 of the rules.

This is not a challenge- but never "say theres no way" for hackers to do something- it only encourages them, and I am not advocating piracy before you scald me for saying it!

Will there be a list of amendment sections included? Or will we have to trawl through the full text to try and identify them?

Is it just a flat e-book type format, or does it have any sort of added functionality as well - such as list building or similar?

Looking at the abannan web site, it still looks like it's PC, MAC and iPAD only, not iOS in general.

Great news, spaffed a lot of money on the New iPad so for me it's the most expensive wargames rulebook in history. Saying that I couldn't live without my ipad now, damn thing goes everywhere with me now.
