Please report GS v2.10 bugs here

Post by Peter Stauffenberg »

We're now trying to fix the reported bugs (not installation issues) to GS v2.10 so please report game bugs you have found here.

We have received report about and fixed the following bugs so far:

* France surrenders if Paris is vacated after June 1940. This could cause the Allied AI to lose France prematurely. Changed code so the check is only made if the Allied player is not AI, i. e. human.

* Players got a message about Allied aggression when the Axis attacked Holland if the Allies had earlier attacked Belgium. Now they won’t get this message

* Canadian reinforcements spawn when Belgium was conquered. This was intended for the Axis attack on Belgium, but forgot the situation where the Allies attack Belgium in September 1939. Then the Canadian reinforcements would arrive early and not when the Allies are on the run in Belgium. This is now fixed so the Canadian reinforcements will only arrive at the end of the Axis March 19th 1940 turn if the Allies attacked Belgium first. If the Axis attack Belgium first the Canadian reinforcements will arrive when Belgium surrenders as before.

* The game would show a chance for Italian early activation if Belgium was attacked, but not conquered. Now this message will only show if there aren’t enough Allied naval units in the Mediterranean and Belgium is conquered.

* Rail gauge conversion could happen between friendly countries like Persian standard gauge rail being converted into Russia. This is now fixed so Allied controlled standard gauge rail heads can’t convert rail into Russian controlled broad gauge hexes and vice versa unless Russia is conquered.

* Unit graphics files for corps sized Slovak units are missing. These will be added in the bugfix.

* Game.class version check is updated so people playing with the bugfixes will get a notice if their opponent has not installed the bugfixes.

Players can send me their email via a PM to receive the updated game.class file to test the bugfixes. When we have have collected all bugs from you then we will release the updated files to all of you.

It looks like the Dyle Plan got a nerf. That's good, it should make it a bit easier for the Axis. There was a risk that this strategy would become too common. Now it shouldn't be the case, as without the Canadians the Allies will be rather weak in 1939 and early 1940 and since there is a chance for fair weather in February, well...

Well, it was a bug in the first place. The Canadians are supposed to arrive when the Germans are on the move towards Paris. NOT when the Allies are on the move towards Belgium by being the aggressor. So the Canadians arriving in September 1939 by attacking Belgium as the Allies was an exploit of a weakness in the game and not intended.

It may just be me, but my Slovak Korps seems to be carrying maskirovka to an extreme:

The graphics files are missing for them. I can send you the missing files if you want them. Just send me a PM with your email address. I will add the missing files to the bugfix so we have them distributed to all later. I had the missing files on my computer so they seem to have been forgotten in the file transfer to Slitherine when they made the installer.

In the mean time you can rename the corps to a German one and the graphics will reappear.

People can get the update by sending me a PM with their email address and wish to test it out. We will not release the update until all bugs have been reported. We don't want to have to release incremental bugfixes.

Some have already got the update so please send me a PM if you want the update too.

What about morale penalty will it be applied when Allies conquer Belgium and then Axis reconquer?

Maybe not .At that situation, Belgium would consider Axis as liberation army . :)

I recently sent you (and Ronnie) a save game of my game with Joe Rock, were the Soviet convoys did not move in the Endgame (and were therefore easy pickings for the Axis subs). It did not matter in our game as Joe already had secured victory at this stage of the game with the Allies. Nevertheless, in other games it may make a big difference if the Soviet convoys are coming through in 1944 or not. However, it was a game played with the beta version, so perhaps the bug has already been fixed?

New bug concerning Russian Rail net.

I have a game where the Axis progressed into Russia Eastward past Stalingrad toward Omsk.

The Germans retreated toward Germany in the summer of 1943 to set up defense lines.. The Russian railnet did convert , but into Western Allied (narrow gauge) instead of Russian Broad gauge.

Has anyone else encountered this?

When playing the game go to options and you can select music and sound effects.

Players have reported that when you do this the game may play slowly or lockup against the AI.
