My favourite army used to be Alexandrian Macedonian. I am still very fond of the army and the period. Most rules sets are not too kindly to the old phalanx though...

My next favourite army then became Hittite / Assyrian and New Kingdom Egyptian. I find it difficult to choose between these but think Assyrian is just my favourite. (any ideas when we are getting a chariot armies list book?)

I then moved on to the renaisance, Love the Italian wars, favourite army would be anything with Landsknechts. But actually I would say my favourite army from this time frame is deffinitely Ottoman Turkish. Love all the cavalry, and those Janissaries. Very nice. I have not seen a list advertised that covers Italian wars or Ottoman Turks

Probably my most recent favourite army is 2nd Punic wars carthaginian. Considering the list above it will come as no surprise that I have pre ordered the rules and the republic of rome army lists from amazon.co.uk I have been buying a lot of extra Corvus Belli 15mm figures to bring my army up to size. I used to use Essex, but Corvus Belli are much better.

Oh also 23rd century Centarii but perhaps that will have to be a different rules set....

I have always had a soft spot for the Magyars, all that Lh(F) roaming the boards makes me smile, altough rarely victorious.

Early Persians,

l am still so fond of the Bow/Spear/Shield combination though, i know this theory has fallen from grace recently, but i love my Persian army, and my beloved Immortals.

You will be glad to know that bow/spear is alive and well in FoG.

Imortals are an interesting troop type, superior, armoured, medium foot, bow, light spear IIRC

IIRC Early Persian won at a French beta comp last year. There's a battle report somewhere.
