[Translations] German language

Post by hyphon »

Hi all!

I would like to offer my help to translate BASPM into the German language.

Actual I'm working on other projects like Bohemia Interactive's "Take On Mars" and Green Heart Games "Game Dev Tycoon", but I'ld like to help as far as I can.
Would be nice to get a feedback soon.

Greetings from Germany

Thanks for the offer. It would be great to have a German version but at this stage the text is still changing. Ignacio will let you know when is a good time to start thinking about getting involved and where to start.

Hi!

I hope, you reach that point soon, because I started with some small files today.
Just for my own testing: Is there some kind of config file, to alter language? I'm thinking of: lang = "EN", to change it simply to "DE" for German?

It also would be nice, if someone who is interested in space exploration and a native German speaker, would join me, to split up tasks and cross-checking the translations.

Greetings

Hello hyphon,

Many thanks for the offer. We'll try to pair you up with another German speaker. I'm sure someone will show up in the next few weeks :)

I'd suggest you to wait a few more weeks before getting started with the translation. There are lots of changes to the game in the way, so you might want to wait until we have something more stable in order to avoid redoing work.

If no other german speaker shows up, I can help you. However, I'm quite busy with all my other projects, so I'm not sure how much time I can spend on this, but if you need someone who just checks for correctness, I think I'll find some time to do it.

Hi everybody,

I'm a German speaker and quiet good in space exploration stuff. So I wanna be part of the translation team if the time is ripe.

Bye for now

Hi SebbiLega and Munin,

I also thank you for your message.

If you like to, send me a PM, so we can coordinate later, when the translations are going green.

Thanks guys

just to be clear the text now is going to change. Almost everything is likely to be rewritten before release. Don't waste your time working on the text yet as it will all need to be redone when the text is complete.

Thanks!

I just want to ask about your time schedule for translating the game because I've heard you will finish the game till the end of the year.

Hello guys,

Yes, we haven't forgotten about you :) . We'll be contacting you shortly about this. User CV60 from the Matrix forums is currently hard at work writing the missing articles for the Buzz-opedia, so the plan is to start the translation very soon.

Hi Nacho!

Additional life sign from me, too. I'm on go for translating. :)

How do you plan to organize the translations?

So is there a manager per language or just all translations to you?
Is a web-based localization tool or do we get access to a selfmade/bought translation software or just all per Hand (notepad++)?

Because it applies to German language:

There are languages, which know two or more forms of personal speech.
In German we now a formal speech with "Sie" used by strangers or talking with a superior on work and
the more private and/or intimate form with "Du", used between friends, family and more known persons.

For myself, I would use the formal form with "Sie", because of the simulation aspect, the always professional effects of the pictures music etc.

Hope you will answer soon.
