Although that's technically correct, how often do people see "PC" and think "Oh, so they mean Personal Computers, as opposed to smartphones. I'm sure it works just as well on Windows, Linux and Mac!"?

I've been a Mac-user for most of my computing life (though Windows lately due to gaming), and not once have I seen "For PC" and thought to myself "Perfect! I'm sure this version will work on my Mac!".

Am I the exception?

Maybe this is a more likely assumption for Linux users? I don't know.

Though I've always been under the impression that when "PC" is mentioned, what's really meant is "Windows".

I'm all for clarity, though, and perhaps making it clearer would be a good idea. I'll edit my post to reflect this.

Apologies for any confusion I may have caused. :(

It is ;)
I don't use a "GNU/Linux", I use a PC (with GNU/Linux).

The opposition PC/Mac is still there in common language for historical reasons (they used to be on different architecture), but there has never been anything like this in the Linux world.

I've just recieved an email from the support staff with the linux version. I'm very glad for the prompt help, although they should still consider changing "PC" to "Windows" to avoid future confusion.

I just did the same thing. This is awfully confusing - when did the meaning of PC change to 'machine running microsoft windows'? Ah well, hopefully support will sort me out, I've emailed them, but I was realy hoping to try this out this evening...

Hatred for Mac was for Mac was closed. It was not open like a PC where you could put a Linux. Mac was compelled to its OS and hardware, the PC is not compelled to Windows nor Intel.
It is the same hate as for Steam which add another layer of jail on the games. Steam makes the PC like a Mac console. Who want to spoil Linux with Steam is a big troll.
