Capcoms
Just a thought - currently the capcom is selected prior to the crew leading to what to me looks like the 'best' astronaut being default picked for this slot rather than actually as flight crew. Would it not be worth thinking whether the 'best' crew member for the job be the one after the best (1/2/3) that would be selected for the crew. I haven't even determined whether the job ever has a role to play in reliability, certainly it isn't in the top three that you can see and I haven't found a manned mission xml file to check it out in my somewhat disjointed trawl through the mission files

Thanks for your suggestion, passed it on to the devs.physick wrote:Just a thought - currently the capcom is selected prior to the crew leading to what to me looks like the 'best' astronaut being default picked for this slot rather than actually as flight crew. Re: Capcoms
Notice that you can assign personel, then allow the computer to fill the remaining positions. It won't override the slots you've manually assigned. Personally, I assign the Capcom manually, and let the computer fill the other slots, now that the logic has been upgraded. Then I do some tweaking when I'm not fully satisfied with the result.

Re: Capcoms
That's what I have been doing it was just that the logic was always selecting the highest leadership one. I have noticed that the best astronaut also looks like it is best leadership as on one Apollo mission it selected #3 who never uses leadership and was a newbie with good stats there but a lousy fitness rating which was what it almost entirely was using. I might have a crack at getting a better handle on what each role uses in each mission so as to be able to make a better choice of candidate
Re: Capcoms
I agree that the flight crew auto-assignements are not satisfying the way they are. This will definitively be improved, maybe through a "default template" based on the most used skills on the various crew positions that would be used by the game logic.
