IOS versions?
Although the game has only just been ported to IOS, do members of the community have any plans to create and or port PC modes/scenarios to the IOS platform?

Re: IOS versions?
As far i know t is impossible to create mods for the iOS version of the game as Apple doesn't allow you to install anything on your devices except via their own shop. So unless you Jailbreak your device there is no way you can apply the mods to your game.
Re: IOS versions?
Hi - that is only true of 'official' expansions ie which are in app purchases. If you look at the Battle Acedemy forums, you will see a huge range of community created mods and scenarios (see the link at the bottom of signature) which are ported to PC, Mac and IOS platforms.

Re: IOS versions?
That may be true, but I don't think there is a general way to move the files you'd need to an i-device. (There's no file explorer like on PC, Mac or Android, for instance)
So before the community would even consider any iPad mods, I think Slitherine would need to add a way of importing and using user-designed scenarios, equipment files and the like that would be specific to this game and the iOS platform?
Since that isn't needed on other platforms, it isn't (currently) part of the iPad game either.
And since it isn't currently possible to add custom maps etc I don't think the game even contains any of the code to load up custom games present on other platforms.
So until Slitherine makes an effort to remedy the limitations put in place by Apple (if that ever happens! Remember Slitherine have never promised custom content will work on the iPad version!) I would believe the answer is "no".

PS. On the up side, I don't think there's any need to "convert" user mods and scenarios if and when mod transfers from the PC becomes possible. Why would the iPad use another format for scenario files than the standard pzscen, for instance?

Re: IOS versions?
Real shame, They really should allow mods on the iOS version.
Even though I'm not one, I know a lot of iPad owners would like to add everyone's great mods to their game. If PzC ipad is almost the same game, it should have the same possibilities for players.

Certainly BA mods are the same as PC and Mac and iPad, it is the delivery package that has to be changed as IOS users do not have access to iPad directories.

Depends on who you mean by "they".BiteNibbleChomp wrote:Real shame, They really should allow mods on the iOS version.
Apple doesn't disallow mods specifically (not unless you try to charge money, at least - then you'd need to go through the Apple Store). It's just that they have in their infinite wisdom decided that file management is something iOS users aren't to be bothered with

This means that mod support needs to be specifically coded into each and every product, instead of just reading from a file directory under the control of the user (like how it works pretty much everywhere else...

And since iPad Panzer Corps pretty much does what the PC version does, that means no such specialized mod support is present. At least, not now.

For the 'modder' community, it might be worthwhile touching base with the 'modder' community on the Battle Academy forums.
If you access my BA sticky (in my signature) you will gain a view of the breadth of BA mods for PC, Mac and iPad.

I mod stuff all the time for BA and it is deliverable to my iPad. My primary reason for having extremely limited interest in PzC is that I cannot do the same. Namely, download user content on my iPad and utilize it.

Re: IOS versions?
Unfortunately the iPad and PC versions of PzC are not the same - they use some different and incompatible data formats. That is why there is no mechanism for loading and using user mods on iPad.
