Re: Soviet Corps - new units suggestions
Yes the August Invasion of Manchuria would be fun! Maybe you have an objective to capture ALL of Korea before the Americans land!
Re: Soviet Corps - new units suggestions
Hi,
Do you plan to have some NKVD units? Their strength can be between conscripts and regular infantry
Also, only for 1941 campaign, you may introduce very cheap and junky 'Na Ispug' tractor-tanks (search NI_Tank in wikipedia )

Re: Soviet Corps - new units suggestions
If the Maus was in the german campaigns, I think the IS-3 HAS to be in this new DLC, the same for the T-44 and KV-8. What do you think?

Re: Soviet Corps - new units suggestions
It's not just the Maus (and the KV5s and SPAAG 90sin DLC East), but there's also the advanced planes in 45 West and the
tortoise in one of the late Allied Corps scenarios, so there's a precedent for using technology that almost made it.
While I like the idea of using IS3 and KV8 as a Soviet player, I am relieved that I won't have to face them in 44 and 45 East, unless I can have a couple of jagdmaus that I read about in one of the modding forums recently....

Re: Soviet Corps - new units suggestions
This is what I think:
- KV8, early like it was used.
- T-44 in DLC 44
- IS-3 in DLC 45 (Maybe in some Manchuria campaign?, or maybe Berlin?).

Just a quick question on SC: any projected release date? Fall 2014?

I think I heard Q4 2014 at one stage, but aren't certain on this. As far as I know, Soviet Corps doesn't even have a product page.Scholomancer wrote:Just a quick question on SC: any projected release date? Fall 2014?

I can wait... Quite a while. With the addition of Finland, I'm going to have to do quite a big fix to the WWI mod following SC's release, which is very annoying.Wellingham wrote:Can't wait. Good call on that. It was one of the few mechanized assets Chuikov had inside Stalingrad.
Lend lease for 1942 would include the Matilda & Stuart. I see Grant & Valentine are already portrayed.
120 mm Mortars for artillery? Any way to give them infantry status to make them hard to root out of a city? The 120s carried the day after all the arty was lost in June 41.

Take a look at the Eastern Front: Soviet Storm thread in the Scenario Design sectionBaku42 wrote:Radoye wrote: ATY:

Re: Soviet Corps - new units suggestions
I have few ideas (feel free to say these are stupidest things u ever heard)
1. Regarding Soviet infantry, majority were inexperienced conscripts. What about system were u can upgrade "for free" conscripts to Regulars, SMG inf or even Guards when they reach certain experience? To make it harder (and more realistic) U could reinforce conscripts only with "normal" replacement (not elite), so it would not be so easy to reach desired level of experience. For example, when ur conscripts reach experience of 200/250/300 (not sure what would be adequate number, maybe even different number for different difficulty levels) u can upgrade it into a better unit for free . U would have choice - either to keep cheaper and more experienced conscripts or to get stronger but more expensive unit with less experience (experience of upgraded unit should be "downgraded").
2. Shouldn't engineers be able to build airfield? What about option where engineers can build "temporary" airfield if they have "suitable" terrain (Clear with at least 5 adjacent clear/countryside hexes)? Also, that should take 1 full turn, and maybe that "temporary" airfield should be like carrier (planes should be directly over that airfield to be able to resupply). Also, they would need good weather to be able to build an airfield.
3. Spotting, what about units who are placed on the hills or mountains, to give them temporary +1 spotting (except in case of bad weather).

Re: Soviet Corps - new units suggestions
Airfields are usually quite plentiful on most maps anyways. But that gives me the idea- bridging engineers should be able to actually build a permanent bridge. As it stands right now, they are hardly ever useful as they take too long to get into position and are too fragile along the way. But if they bridges they built were permanent (give them like 5hp so they can be destroyed if attacked) they might be able to get enough done in a scenario to matter.Jazzer32 wrote:2. Re: Soviet Corps - new units suggestions
I hate to say it but it's been too long now, most people have moved on to other games. It's telling that this forum used to be packed with gamers going over the easter eggs, exchanging tips and everything else that goes along with an active gaming community. Now there are a trickle of new threads as there is nothing new to talk about.
Soviet Corps was not going to be as lucrative as the Panzer Corps series, but I thought it would draw even with Allied Corps. Sure, the hard core is still engaged but the bigger market of casual gamers have moved on. I'm not sure it's even going to be worth it to the developers to even bring it out? If Armageddon or Warhammer is a hit, there will be an overwhelming demand for new content for that with a huge pre-existing market and community. What will the developers consider? To focus their time on patches and an expansion for a hit series with heavy sales or an expansion to an older game that has passed it's prime for growth?
I don't blame them if they stick with Armageddon but I hope that at that point they can expand the development team(s) to engage in multiple projects, or give sanction\a contract\more control to the more dedicated modders to work on the lesser projects like AC GC or SC.
I hope for the latter. I have played some of the mods and some are simply superb, and I bet some would jump at the chance to get paid even a little bit for something they already like doing. :_

Also, When Soviet Corps or this Allied GC thing come out, a bunch of new threads are going to begin popping up as used to happen at the start of this year. Something changed around August that made everyone leave though.

Re: Soviet Corps - new units suggestions
Guess ppl just got absorbed playing Panzer Corps. Once you've learned all there is to know on the forums, there aren't many new forum posts to be made or to discuss. The only exception would probably be AARs which I guess some may find interesting to come back to. Or some like me come on every so often just to see what's new but don't post a tremendous amount.
Anyways back to the subject at hand, hope we get to see SC soon, been waiting ever since last summer. Wish the devs could tell us weather or not it's been put aside, is almost to be released or is cancelled all together.

Seeing how Armageddon implement what I wished for the most since Peoples General, actually ranged combat and all the tactical finesse that comes for it.
I say, forget about the idea doing a Soviet Corps expansion fpr PzC, but instead do a Panzer Corps 2 using the Armageddon engine called Soviet Corps instead.

and make it include the H-class battle ships! Been playing HoI2 with them and they are epic! (Not to mention that they were historically going to be bigger than modern nuclear carriers!)Dragoon wrote:Seeing how Armageddon implement what I wished for the most since Peoples General, actually ranged combat and all the tactical finesse that comes for it.
