I'm back on this mod now! (No longer need to think about WWI!)

Is anyone able to make a unit graphic for a 'mob' unit to be used by Mongol and Chinese armies (the mongols used such as a meatshield for their keshiks, the Chinese for garrisons.

An armed mob would also be useful for a peasant levy or revolt (the earlier version of partisans?).

I vaguely recall a Wargames Research Group rule set describing levy troops being armed with a whole range of tools including cloddenbeatles. No, I don't know either, but somebody should be able to make an icon with at least one person armed with one!
I might even cut and paste it into my 1939 reserve infantry units or add it to my yellow Ba64 - with the peasant mob adding an extra +1 soft attack...

There won't be any revolt scenarios (One look at the map of Warsaw Uprising was enough to tell me that there is no way I'm adding one), but I will be using them as a peasant/slave/prisoner army. The Mongols will get immense amounts of peasant auxillaries every scenario after Western Xia (most likely anyway), and the Chinese (both) will use them a lot, especially at Kaifeng.

Also, this is the only unit I have made since WWI was first released: The Great Wall!

Anyone able to make the following graphics in the next 24hrs or so? I will be able to release a beta version on Dec 7 if I get them:

 Chinese Spearmen
 Chinese Peasants (Armed with something like a rake)
 Cloud unit (aircraft, used as Mongol recon for the Great Wall scenario, but making it not look unusual on the battlefield - I'm not adding Zeppelins here!)
 Mini Catapult
 This thing:

Also, ranges has been finalised:

1 - Frontline Archers (Mostly Peasant ones)
2 - Skilled Archers
3 - Longbows, Mongol Horse Archers, H'wachas
4 - Trebuchets, Early Cannons
5 - Later Cannons

Perhaps you could use a large kite with a man attached for the aerial scout.

As for "This Thing", I have seen something on You Tube - possibly originally History Channel - where the team was reproducing old Chinese weapons from weapons manuals. They made a very convincing flamethrower that bore a very strong resemblance to "This Thing."

They also had an item on a ridiculously large siege catapult. They didn't make a full sized one but the work they did indicated that the claimed range of about a mile was plausible. I can't recall now if it was calculations only or if they included some scale working models.

Are you doing rockets or is that a bit later than your period?
Spearmen are great, I'll have to convert them to PzC format then (or find a friend to do so).

'This thing' is actually some sort of Cannon unit, which will probably end up the 2nd best unit in the mod (only to the H'wacha). It won't be used in the W. Xia scenario that will come with the beta version, but I want to use it for Beijing ('Zhongdu as it was known in 1215) and Kaifeng.

Rockets are going to be included as well (again not in the beta), where you will fight them in Kaifeng and Xiangyang, before using them in Russia and Western Europe. This sort of thing was used in the battle for Kaifeng:

and later the Hwacha will become an important part of your horde. The rocket platform in the above picture should be made into a unit as well, but at this stage I am more concerned about the graphics that will be in the earlier battles.

The cloud will be used as a way of showing the knowledge that the Mongols gained from a defecting Jin general at the Great Wall in 1211, I don't think the Mongols knew about Kites then, they might have after conquering China though.

Beta is up: https://www.mediafire.com/?97mbklltgpzwt0x

Not much in the way of graphics changes, I've been focussing mostly on the scenarios and units since I finished WWI. Also, heroes are currently disabled (as well as briefings!) but I hope to include these in the final version (most likely late 2015!).

The campaign path is relatively simple, victory to go on, lose and die!

The difficulties have been changed compared to the base game. Always locked to 0% prestige (no buying units), however I am not sure if this works yet. To test properly, don't buy anything - the idea is to use the forces I provide throughout the various battles.

Don´t get frustrated Micha. BiteNibble must be away as he always answer almost instantly any question about his work. He will explain you sooner or later.

But I will try to help you, I just downloaded the mod and it seems you just need to activate it by using GME; if you don´t want to use this program you just have to copy all the files inside the .zip into the gamer folder (overwrite the original files, so make a backup). Hope it helps.

Regards.

Once the mod has been enabled in GME, go to campaigns and select the one that appears to be a 1939 campaign. This is actually the mongol campaign, I just haven't got around to all the graphics work yet. It is still in an early state at the moment, so when I release an update there should be a new interface.

At this point there are only the first 5 scenarios of the campaign set up, and none have briefings yet, I just released it so that people can see something is actually happening and I can get feedback about the new units.

If you didn't use GME, you probably either forgot one of the files (most likely the scenarios) or the download corrupted.
