Price drop?
Price drop?
What the heck. Only two months after release and already a 33% price reduction. I know now not to purchase any Shenandoah games when they come out. Oh what a sucker I am.

Re: Price drop?
It's a two day sale, not a permanent reduction. Happens all the time in the app store.
Was the past two months with the app worth 3 bucks?

Re: Price drop?
No the past two months were not worth the extra money. I doubt if it is even worth that. While improved it does not offer much. It did get me to pull out some out AH games and remember why I started playing war games way back in the 60s. Discounts are common but this is way to early. Battle Academy (except for IA) has not discounted their game since it hit the App Store almost a year ago and while the base game is twice the price I have not tired of it especially the fantastic multi-player which I have played on an almost daily basis since it can out almost three years ago on PC. I keep hoping that the longtivity of interesting playability of Shenandoah products will improve as it fills an area I enjoy but that being said while my favorite area of WW 2 battles is in North Africa, I will and can easily wait two months for a discount in price.
Re: Price drop?
I personnaly don't care about such a price drop, as I would have paid twice the original price for the fun I have with this game so far.

Re: Price drop?
A price drop will get more people buying and playing the game ... and thus more potential opponents, thereby increasing the value of the game I've already bought!
If the lower price still allows Shenandoah to function as an ongoing concern and continue adding features/new games, I'm all for it!
MesaDon, might I suggest taking advantage of this reduced price to gift the app to a friend and gain a new opponent?

Different people have different tastes. I've seen your comments here and read your 1 star review, and I don't understand why you seem to feel the need to bash BotB. It's not the game for you...I get that, and that's fine...but I don't understand trying to undermine it.
I have both BA and BotB, and I much prefer BotB. I think they are both quality products for what they do, but BA isn't the game for me. Personally, I would pay more for BotB, but I don't plan to purchase any more BA type games or in-game purchases. Again, I'm not saying BA isn't a quality product...just that it's not the product for me.
Re: Price drop?
Excuse me. While you may consider it bashing, I consider it possible useful criticism. If you have read all I have written you would think twice about the comment of games that I play. Note that I started with AH games in the 1960s and actually played war games prior to that with the MB American heritage series. (Long before home computing was a gleam in a computer engineers eyes.). My concern is cost versus Replay-ability and number of battles and hypothetical battles taken in the context of BoB. I applaud the imagery of the map and the unit depiction along with the improvements but still feel based on current tablet price points it is high for what you get. After that the main concern is the lack of map segments that units can move into seems to overly compress the battlefield. Thanks for reminding me about the one star review, with the last update I should recognize the small but necessary improvements and shift the side to two.

And when did I insult you? I say what I have to say based on the game and developers, I respect your opinions and would not think of insulting you. Lets keep it civil as the developers have asked previously. I left that they devalue their game by a price reduction this soon.
Re: Price drop?
Price reductions do not "devalue" a game. Their purpose is to make more money. People only bother adjusting the price if the game can make money and has value to people.
It's called "price discrimination". You can read an economics book to learn about how it makes more money. It has nothing to do with devaluing a game, and it's not unfair in any way. It means they make more money and more people voluntarily happily get the game. It's win/win: more people buy the game at a price where they feel they benefit, and Shenandoah makes more money in a way they think is good for them too.
If you're poor or consider Bulge only a marginally worthwhile game to you, and want to wait for a discount to buy, you are welcome to do that. But pricing in general cannot be set how you personally want it, it needs to be set according to market conditions (as best Shenandoah can guess those), not tailored to what will make you happy. Shenandoah is not in business to act out your ideas about pricing and economics. If they set prices in a way optimized to make you happy, Shenandoah would probably go out of business, not produce future games, and thus disappoint me and many other people (and themselves!!). That would not be a good way forward.

Folks,
While I obviously disagree with what Don's saying, I will ask that people refrain from personal attacks here and elsewhere. That's not what this forum is about. We value everyone's feedback and open debate, but not attacks on the speaker. Battle of the Bulge is a learning experience for us as a company, and we listen to everybody as we try to do things better in the future.
Tempted to lock this thread as I'm not sure it can go in a positive direction, but I'll leave it open for now. Prove me wrong.

I certainly agree with you. This is not about who can afford what but individual perceptions. I have stated in a revised App Store review that you are heading in the right way. I certainly am glad that I was proved wrong on the not caring or not being responsive. I am still looking forwards to North Africa and banking on what has been learned will bring an experience that will be more rewarding. Just please ad either more separate battles or hypothetical variations on the battles you will include.

Re: Price drop?
When talking about price drop offers I think it boils down to what is fair and reasonable in the context of timeframe.
If the price was dropped within a week of release then yes, I would be annoyed if I'd paid full price.
2 months after release is quite reasonable in my opinion. I won't go into the reasons why I think price drops are a good thing in general as they've been stated by others previously in this thread.

Re: Price drop?
Yojimbo,
That's pretty much how I feel about price drops. For me, it's worth a few extra bucks to get in at the beginning when the game is new to everyone...but I would be annoyed if the price dropped only a week or two after release.
