How to play axis side?

Post by sa-oas »

I'm trying to play the Axis side online. I select Axis by flipping the "Your Side" switch to the right to select Axis. I then press Choose. Even though I selected Axis, I almost always enter a game on the Allied side. I'm tired of playing the Allied side, so I'd like to play the Axis side. How do I select that?

Are you trying to play vs. AI or on Game Center?

You should always get the side you request vs. AI.

If you are trying auto-match in Game Center it will try to match you as requested, but will give you any game available if no one is on the opposite side of your selected scenario. Suggest directly challenging a specific opponent (you can find people looking for a game on our site).

In that case, you should offer 3 choices when playing via game center: axis, allied, and whatever side is first available. It's kind of annoying to request axis and have that request ignored time after time.

When you go to a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, they give you three choices. It's the same situation here :).

Either a 3rd option or some text to indicate you are only entering your "preferred" side and you will get whatever side is open in the first available game.

You are assuming that it's technically feasible to do that.

I'm just saying from the user's point of view you should have the ability to control whether your request is ignored. You could also put up a prompt asking for permission to ignore the user's request, or allow the user to resign without penalty in that case. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know the current design resulted in frustration for at least one user. It's such a great game otherwise, I was surprised to find a problem :).

Yes, or course you should have the ability. But as near as we can determine, Game Center doesn’t let us implement it.

We are able to treat your preference as a preference, but cannot guarantee it.

You should be able to resign ANY unplayed game without penalty in the next release.

Yeah, I've felt the same way. But if you want a Soviet opponent, hit me up for a game. My ID is: obliquestrats
