Anyone still prefer Bulge over Moscow?

Post by simplee67 »

I guess it's because it's so compact.

Plus it FEELS like armored warfare tactics much more.
It's a game of maneuver wheras Moscow is too vast

I paid for, then deleted Moscow and went back

I like them both.
As I am only playing full campaigns (in my opinion the short campaigns depend too much on luck) I play both of them depending on the time I want to spend - BotB is like a snack and DOM is like a full meal.
The new Veteran AI in DOM is a bigger challenge than in BotB where I only go for new personal high scores as losing is very rare if not impossible once you know your standard moves...

I do. Moscow is a bit to massive. Whereas in Bulge individual units stand out a bit more. However this is playing against AI.

However vs. an online player Moscow gets a different feel and becomes more interesting.

Well, until this morning I would have absolutely agreed with you but now mother Russia is slowly but surely reeling me in. BotB is a tactically very tight scenario, which makes it so appealing. On the other hand, it is also quite difficult. DoM is more accessible and has greater variety. The different phases of the campaign as single scenarios are great much like endgame in BotB. They are also easier than race to the Meuse which was a tough nut to crack. In summary, I like both games - a lot!

Looks like I'm not the only one that went over to FFXIV for a while. It's not the same as COH, but it keeps me entertained for now.

I guess this section of the forum has probably lost its purpose, although I guess its still useful for continual gloating over the great evil one being defeated

I think moscow offers a bit more variation. like said, BoB is more compact and predictable. in moscow you have a bit more possibilities for differend tactics.
in general it would be cool if they would still support BoB and DoM with little updates. there are still things to improve in DoM. specially the online game via game center is still not possible because of allways "waiting" for the other player to move.(what a shame)
or an update where we get some more units or add some more graphical effects.

at the moment it feels like they dont give a f..k about their games and their fans/customers.

its makes me very sad because i like all of their Crises in Command games and they were expensive...

I really like Bulge...every move can lead to so many variations. Its also nice to have a 'real' wargame that doesn't take 5 hours to play through a campaign. With that said, encircling soviets in DoM is SO much fun!

I prefer Desert Fox, but I'm a sucker for WW2 North Africa games...

Panther Games Combat Command: Battle of the Bulge would be breakfast, lunch and dinner. And would cost you 8x as much as well :o

Remember Matrix's World War II: General Commander. That game seemed a bit more complex, but went nowhere. And it even had an editor. It may be possible these iPad platform games can compete with stuff like Unity of Command and satisfy.

Well, I just saw Jim Cobb's review on GrogHead, and am buying it tonight.

I prefer Moscow as it's bigger, and with more room to maneuver. The AI seemed to have a hard time though. Even at the hardest level it was a little too easy. I'm really enjoying the PC version of Bulge. I hope the AI is tougher at the higher levels. I'm about to head to the top and see how it plays.

Not anymore. The 17th September update broke Bulge on my iPhone. I wish I could roll back!

Hang in there Redwing. I know it can be frustrating, but Slitherine are great about supporting their games and I'm sure that they will fix it shortly.

The benefits of getting improved (IMHO) versions of these games with better AI and a PC version are (to me) totally worth any teething troubles in the short run.

Appreciate the sympathy, gdrover but I am losing faith. No answers to my posts, and I just can't understand why they don't pull the update and roll back. They clearly got it wrong. Best course would be to pull it, fix it, test it properly, then release it. It almost seems like none of the old Shenandoah staff are still there and all the expertise that they had was lost. This is really bad management.

After one year of silence and a big announcement I really expected more. I didn't want an update but I got it anyway. Why couldn't they just leave it alone? Make a PC and Mac version by all means to generate more revenue. Rewrite the code so that it can be used in the future for new cross platform games which also generate more income. Yes, I get it. But ruin a perfect product as a first result of this grand strategy? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

And they already declared they want to butcher Moscow and desert fox next. I shudder just thinking about what that will produce. Time to switch auto-update off and get into airplane mode.

Farewell, Shenandoah. Sorry, Slitherine. Shenandoah went a year ago.
