Singleplayer vs Multiplayer mode
Please share what do you prefer - singleplayer or multiplayer mode. For me the best option is single player.

Re: Singleplayer vs Multiplayer mode
I am really much more into singleplayer so i can play whenever i want and how long i want...
Re: Singleplayer vs Multiplayer mode
Single player. I would be a very erratic multiplayer person and that would not be fair on any of my opponents.
I love the smell of TOAW in the morning...

Single player would be ok, IF the AI wasn't so useless. So let me be the first to vote Multiplayer.... excellent competitors out there.
Re: Singleplayer vs Multiplayer mode
Hi just pick up this thread and thought I would add my vote. I play almost exclusively single player, and I find the AI rather challenging, get clobbered many times, but I guess that might be because I am really just relatively new to computer war gaming and am learning the nuts and bolts of the games, (currently playing BA, Panzer Corps, and just picked up Germany at War). I did try a couple of MP games and got crushed quickly, but am looking forward to getting better and playing more MP games.captkiwi wrote:Single player would be ok, IF the AI wasn't so useless. Re: Singleplayer vs Multiplayer mode
I grew up playing board games solo, frankly the main reason I like computer wargames is they don't attract dust and are easier to store.
In 20 years of wargaming on a machine, I have yet to experience an AI that wasn't dumber or more useless than a half wit. But the moment you mention AIs you get all the people that simply would freak out if they couldn't play an AI in a game. I don't know what they are expecting and to be honest, I don't care what they are expecting.
But at least with a VERY few games, the first few times at bat can be a challenge simply from not knowing how the best moves are needed to be. The first time playing most of Battle Academy is a challenge, then by the 3rd playing you tend to have the measure of the scenario. Then you either play another human, or you're kidding yourself thinking it will actually be difficult.
And the multi player in BA is superb. I don't mind occasionally losing in a wargame, it keeps things humble. But it gets boring with some games when you know the AI never had a chance. I generally won't buy any computer wargame that simply can't be played hotseat me vs me as if I was playing a board game me vs me. Life is too precious and time too valuable to play games against opponents that suck.
I'd rather watch one of my vast wealth of documentaries instead of playing the real time crud on the market. I'm simply not that desperate for an amusement that those designs are acceptable.
And if any of the above comments sound like some sort of direct attack on you because you like those games, for god's sake grow up and stop crying about my comments.

Single player! I vote for single player since I am playing meanwhile working
Being attacked by germans, russians or a Brit meanwhile I am in that meeting is just not acceptable..
However I like the multiplayer mode alot too, but it just doenst fit my work... Since I work at http://bonuskungen.com/mobil-casino/ its very hectic.

For me, each of them has its own advantage. For Single player, we can play anywhere, anytime we want without waiting for someone else. For Multiplayer, although you must have some guys to play with you, but it would bring you a more interesting experience than playing alone. There is someone reading your mind better than bots.

Initially I prefer single player to get a lay of the game. As my skill improves, I'll seek out competitors.

Re: Singleplayer vs Multiplayer mode
Multiplayer is the only way to play.
The computer can be so predictable where as a player changes the way you play almost every single time.
I have been playing since Christmas 2014 and I play the single player game only if I have finished all my players.
I love playing people, so much more challenging.

Re: Singleplayer vs Multiplayer mode
Ok.. it works like this.. there is NO difference between multiplayer or singleplayer.
This is how it goes:
1 guy "hosts" a multiplayer game. He can then EITHER make a new game (host will be in control of character creation) OR load a save file.
Now first of all i want to mention.. save files are shared between singleplayer and multiplayer.. so you even have the possibility to play singleplayer 50% of the time and get someone to join you the other 50% Or any other %'s). So its as simple as that... you have a savefile you can both use in singleplayer as well as have someone drop in on you using the same savefile.
Atm co-op partners cannot bring their own characters in, they will take over 1 of the hosts characters .. not sure wether that will change as its not massively easy due to the way it works now (would probably lead to people losing characters after their partners leave etc. and some other complications .. but who knows, might be possible eventually)

My record now sits at 42 wins 14 losses.
Yeah, I am that guy that keeps track. (I wish the game did it for you.)
I am looking for a competitive challenger let me know if you think you can beat me.

Re: Singleplayer vs Multiplayer mode
I bought a computer for single player mode. Not for multiplayer or ever want to play multiplayer. I expect after all these years a decent challenging ai. Not many games provide that though I've found. You can count them on one hand just about. It amazes me that games from the 80's have better ai's than games today. Sad really.

Re: Singleplayer vs Multiplayer mode
You are wrong of course. There are a few good programmed ai's out there that can beat man without cheating. One in particular one is War of the Lance. Even on normal it gives a very good game as the Highlord and I wager will stomp your azz the first few games. Course you will never tell us the truth but I know.goose_2 wrote:No AI will ever beat the wit of man.

Hey Igorputski,
I am not saying no ai is ever challenging. I am saying that you can learn the tricks of ai and beat it every time.
I have never played your War of the Lance.
I am pretty limited in the games I play but the games I do play I master, which I could show you if you played me in multiplayer, but wait that is not why you bought a computer so...
